Spyware and Pest Remover uses false positives. We have tested this program on clean computer. Scan results contained 5 entries related to adware and other malicious programs. However, analysis showed that most found objects were associated with safe legitimate software. File gszalvf.dll wasn’t found in the named directory, because it didn’t exist. File zlib.dll (legitimate Zlib compression library) was used by several reputable programs and actually wasn’t a part of Download Accelerator Plus, which also as Alexa Toolbar and L0phtCrack, was never installed to the system. Packet.dll and actskn43.ocx were associated with harmless utilities. See screenshot below.
Free version cannot remove critical objects it found. It asks to register and purchase full product. Its realtime protection called Memory Shield is ineffective. We attempted to install Claria (also known as Gator or GAIN) adware. The installation process and running adware weren’t detected.
User interface is inconvenient. Main window cannot be moved, resized or minimized, the application displays strange message. See another screenshot.
The official site is spyware-pest-remover.com. It lacks detailed overview of the product and adequate information about company.
We recommend to avoid Spyware and Pest Remover.
