by Ugnius Kiguolis - - | Type: Corrupt Anti-Spyware

StopGuard is a discontinued corrupt anti-spyware program. Its official domains stopguard.com and genericscanner.com are no longer available. The vendor’s web site www.vantagesoftware.com is still active, but is not associated with the product. We couldn’t find any working StopGuard installation package and therefore didn’t test the application. However, we have received large amount of user reports stating that StopGuard produces ridiculous false positives detecting legitimate programs as dangerous parasites.

We have also been informed about numerous browser hijacks and aggresive advertising issues related to the StopGuard name. Although we are not sure who actually is responsible for these incidents, we suggest avoiding using StopGuard, as there is a vey high possibility that the application’s vendor or its affiliates tried to promote and sell the product that way.

Reputable spyware experts such as Eric L. Howes confirm information provided above and claim that the spyware remover has no uninstaller and lacks the end user license agreement and privacy policy.

DO NOT use StopGuard!
