The Adware Hunter is a discontinued corrupt anti-spyware program. Its official web site www.theadwarehunter.com currently is active, but is no longer associated with the product. We couldn’t find any working installation package of The Adware Hunter and therefore were unable to test the application. However, it definitely is a rogue spyware remover. We received numerous user reports stating that The Adware Hunter produces ridiculous false positives detecting legitimate programs as dangerous parasites.
Users also informed us that the last available free version of The Adware Hunter refuses to remove any critical objects it finds and asks to purchase full commercial version. It doesn’t have any update function and uses outdated spyware definitions database.
According to reputable spyware experts such as Eric L. Howes, The Adware Hunter is a clone of other corrupt spyware removers such as TheSpywareKiller, Protect Your Identinty, SpywareKilla, Spyware C.O.P. and others. The screenshots tell the same. However, we cannot be absolutely sure, as the program was not tested. Most experts believe that The Adware Hunter uses exactly the same spyware reference database as rogue products mentioned above.
Although in the case with The Adware Hunter we cannot provide our own incontrovertible evidence, we DO NOT recommend using this product.
