The Web Shield appears to be a discontinued corrupt anti-spyware program. Its official domain pcspytool.com as well as related web sites is no longer available. We couldn’t find any working installation package of The Web Shield and therefore didn’t test the program. Nevertheless, 2-spyware.com users sent us numerous reports stating that The Web Shield is a rogue ineffective product.
According to Eric L. Howes, the spyware expert, the program is a clone of other corrupt spyware removers such as AdDriller, Ad-Where 2005, ETD Security Scanner, AdwareX Eliminator, AdwareSpy and others. It is also believed that The Web Shield uses exactly the same spyware definitions database as rogue products mentioned above.
In July, 2004, when the official web site was still active, The Web Shield vendor wasn’t offering any free or trial versions.
Although we cannot provide our own incontrovertible evidence of The Web Shield corruptness, we DO NOT recommend using this product.
