What should I know about Safestsearches.com?

As you perhaps have already guessed from the title of the Safestsearches.com virus, it is a website, supposedly offering safe and efficient search services. Contrary to what its developers of claim, it is, actually, a deceptive website, which does not improve the quality or the security of your Internet browsing in any way. It is also worth noting that this search engine is supported by WebDiscover Chromium-based browser, another potentially unwanted program to be installed on your computer. Even though some users may be deceived by this application’s legitimate appearance and use it as their default browser, in reality, this program is listed as potentially unwanted. It can also be further classified a browser hijacker. This classification can be based on this virus’s stealthy overtaking of the browser, redirecting its users to some unreliable websites, displaying numerous annoying online ads and tracking of the browsing data.

When installed, browser hijacker programs including Trovi Search, Wowstart.online or Safestsearches.com hijack the users’ browsers and then begin to alter their settings. Usually, these settings are modified by assigning questionable websites to load as homepages and default search engines of the infected browsers without the ability to revert the changes. This virus can infiltrate all the popular browsers such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. Apple users should not let down their guard either because Safari is vulnerable to this hijacker as well. Therefore, the best way to deal with this virus is to use some acknowledged antivirus software, like Reimage, and remove Safestsearches.com along with its components from your computer. However, if you want to find out more about the workings of this virus, keep on reading the article.

Safestsearches.com is not a trustworthy program, not to mention its lack of functionality. For instance, if you tried searching for some information using this search engine we are almost certain you would be disappointed. The proposed search results may not correspond to your search inquiry and feature links to the same unrelated pages every time you carry out a search. This is because this application works hand-in-hand with questionable third-party affiliate websites and inserts their ads and links into your search results. Such collaboration benefits both, the websites and the PUP developers. There is no actual use of this program for the regular user. It is also important to mention the Safestsearches.com redirect issue, which may not only significantly diminish your system’s performance but also be the cause of unwanted programs entering your computer. Not all the links or ads displayed by this search engine may adequately disclose to what pages the user will be redirected after clicking. So there is great a chance you may be sent to some infectious sites and contaminate your system with a variety of malware, viruses or worms. Since this program works in questionable ways, is not worth the risk to have this application installed on your PC. Therefore, we advise you to think about Safestsearches.com removal as soon as possible.

The example of Safestsearches.com virus

How does this virus spread around?

Like many other PUPs nowadays, Safestsearches.com virus is distributed through “bundling”. This is a deceptive marketing method which allows the PUP creators to attach their malicious programs to some popular freely downloadable software. These programs install simultaneously with the initially downloaded software. All this is done without the user’s knowledge since the information about optional programs is hidden in the “Custom”/”Advanced” installation settings. These settings are usually ignored by the regular users as they choose “Quick” or “Recommended” settings instead. However, to avoid unwanted programs from entering your computer you should always opt for the “Custom” or ”Advanced” installation to disclose potentially hidden programs waiting to sneak in.

How should I remove Safestsearches.com?
