Chromepage1.ru virus. How to remove? (Uninstall guide)

Why is it dangerous to keep Chromepage1.ru hijacker on the system?

Chromepage1.ru virus is very similar to other potentially unwanted programs (PUP) that are actively distributed nowadays – Mystartpage4.ru, Chromestart2.ru, Safesearch1.ru, and others. These programs meet the definition of a browser hijacker and are meant to generate pay-per-click money for their developers. Chromepage1.ru browser hijacker gets into a computer system once installed along with other free programs, changes browser settings to make Chromepage1.ru/start.html or Chromepage1.ru/main.html URL as default start page, and adds a browser extension and tracking cookies to the browser. The aim of such move is to track user’s activity on the Internet, figure out what his/hers interests are, and analyze data such as search queries and browsing history. Chromepage1.ru redirect virus communicates with several ad networks and selects ads based on user’s interests, then integrates them into the search results whenever the user attempts to use the engine placed in Chromepage1.ru site.

These sponsored search results might pose a threat to your safety because you can never know what lies behind them. Typically, developers of browser hijackers hardly filter sponsored third-party results they present along organic search results and claim to be not liable for content these third-party sites present. That is true, but reliable search engines block dangerous websites and do not include them in search results’ pages. Hazardous sites typically offer free downloads that are filled with spyware or even malware-related files, so we suggest you stay away from sites that urge you to install anything – be it a program or a browser plugin. If you notice that this search engine redirects you to strange sites from time to time or triggers pop-up ads, stop using it and remove Chromepage1.ru hijacker from the system to protect your computer system. We believe that there are many better search engines you can use, so you can stop using this vague search tool anytime you want. For Chromepage1.ru removal, we suggest using anti-malware tools Reimage, but it is possible to uninstall it manually, too.

How does this browser hijacker spread?

If you have been affected by Chromepage1.ru hijack, we bet that you want to find out how did it manage to enter your system. Free programs and applications commonly are distributed in software bundles to promote third-party software, and it is important to disintegrate such packages before installing them. To decompose a software package, ALWAYS choose Custom or Advanced settings. You will be surprised to find out how many free programs help to spread potentially unwanted programs. To reject unwanted components, simply deselect agreement marks situated next to suggestions to add additional software to your system.

How to eliminate the cause of Chromepage1.ru redirects?

Browser hijackers can significantly diminish your browsing experience because they cause unwanted redirects that generate revenue for developers of such PUPs, but greatly irk users at the same time. If you do not want to experience these aggravating redirects anymore, just remove Chromepage1.ru virus from your machine. Of course, the easiest way to do it is telling the anti-malware software to do it, but some users do not have it. In such case, you can install one of the programs we recommend or use these comprehensive Chromepage1.ru removal instructions that our support team has prepared.

You can remove Chromepage1.ru automatically with a help of one of these programs: Reimage, Plumbytes Anti-MalwareWebroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus, Malwarebytes Anti Malware. We recommend these applications because they can easily delete potentially unwanted programs and viruses with all their files and registry entries that are related to them.
