PEST TRAP INVADED MY AOL TASK BAR UNDER AOL GUIDE AND I FELL FOR IT THINKING IT TO BE A BONA FIDE SITE AND ACTUALLY PARTED WITH MONEY FOR A 6 MONTH PLAN AND AS SOON AS I REBOOTED MY COMP THE PROGRAMME WAS GONE AND ALL I WAS LEFT WITH IS AN UNINSTALL ICAN ON MY DESKTOP WHICH I AM NOW RELUCTANT TO EVEN ATTEMPT TO USE. AFTER ALL THIS I CANCELLED MY CREDIT CARD AND I HAVE ALSO LOST THE $32.00 FEE FROM MY CREDIT CARD BECAUSE THEY ARE VERY FAST IN TAKING YOUR MONEY. THEY EVEN SEND YOU A PAYMENT VERIFICATION E-MAIL AND AOL CANNOT DETECT IT SO THEY SAY SO I AM AT A LOSS WAHT TO DO NEXT IF ITS STILL ON MY SYSTEM.

pest trap got installed on my pc, and i restarted right away b/c i thought something was suspicious with the program. after restarting, i deleted pestrap folder from program files, and uninstalled from add/remove software(contol panel). i then did system restore. after restarting, the pc is running just like before-it seems completely fine and no signs of pesttrap. CAN I BE SURE that it is completely removed?

I fell for this too, I paid for the 6 month version, because it looked legit- I am usually very good about spotting bogus programs and viruses, not this time. I got the blank background as well, and feel really stupid now. DO NOT BUY INTO PESTTRAP, it has no real site!

I guess that by removing the Registry Values and deleting the Folder containing the malware,the problem should be fixed.

i dont even know how i got pest trap on my computer, but i got the dumb "blank background" thing going on too, tryin to fix it as we speak..grrr

I fell in the same trap (pun not inteneded) as the other users here. I'm a young person and usually smart about these things of this nature but I was completely duped by pest trap. I quickly purcahsed the 6 month version because my pc began acting very weird (last time it acted like this I lost everything) and I wanted to get things straightened out right away. Well today at work I began to look for the pest trap website and all that came up was roach killer. So I went to cnet and searched it only to find out that pest trap IS whats killing my PC. I cancelled my credit card only minutes ago and I'm tempted to leave work early so I can remove pest trap ASAP.

i dont have pest trap on my pc only a continus prompt begging me to buy it any ideas??

Try Webroot Spysweeper. PestTrap is on my dads PC and we are removing it now with Webroot Spysweeper.

okay, to get rid of the dumb background, you should hoover your mouse to the top of the screen and a beige bar should come up. you should find button in one of the upper corners of your screen that will remove it, but you may not be able to see it.

it's tough to get rid of because it's a desktop item, i believe.

This parasite initially popped up and told me that I had several spyware applications on my computer. Thankfully, my decision to renew my current internet security service saved me from wasting my precious money. When the security didn't remove the spyware, I decided to buy Pest Trap, but was unable to figure out where it came from. I googled it and got to this website, which saved me and pointed me to Spyware Doctor, which not only got rid of my spyware but of the remnants of Pest Trap (I had deleted most of it). I highly recommend this website and the program Spyware Doctor.

i bought the program wrote pest trap and told them i want my money back then they replied in an email saying that they refunded my money what should i do next? i already downloaded the removal software. What can i do now and has my money been refunded?

I GOT TRAPPED IN THE GAME

A friend's computer got infected with the Pest Trap Spyware. Typical spyware blackmail program.....I make your computer almost unusable but for a fee I'll quit screwing things up. It also hijacked his internet explorer home page. We installed the free Ad-Aware anti-spyware program which found the problem but couldn't delete Pest Trap. We were able to eliminate Pest Trap by using Windows XP Restore function. We took the computer back a few days to before it became infected. Start Button - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore.

Now emailing them for a refund! & email B.B.B.Co , This is my frist computer, New Computer Dell INSPIRON INTELL CORE 1.66ghp 1 meg ram wather that meain's & internet my own it's a lot to keep up it seem's!! I never had a computer nor knew about Parasites to infect my new computer.Nor did i know false spy programes like PEST TRAP i got traped in to:( and fake one's it was cloned from like SPY SHERIFF. It made my system frezz, run very slow thing's that take's secondes take a min, change personal setting's, lossed files and data. re loaded's at shut off when deleted. i went to buy the pest ware but each time i entered a credit card number - it got denied.

i entered 3 of my credit cards.

all denied.

and then i just found out now that it was a scam.

I got infected today by pest trap and looked it up on google to see what it was...bad virus! I downloaded this spy ware and it took it off immediately! Thanks so much! Worth the money!

Here's another version of this stupid thing... I wrote a nasty letter to PestTrap and they sent me an email trying to get me to download SPYTROOPER from the SpySherriff website.

I too fell into the Pest Trap scam. The Spyware Doctor removed it as well as the other 803 infections that I incurred do to my stuipidity of purchising Pest Trap. The other one is called Spy Trooper, it too is like Pest trap, hence be careful.

To all those who wonder how this got on your PC
Ask yourself - are you logged on with Adminstrator priveledges? if so, that is your problem. In today's Internet world, it is safer to run a PC as a limited user with no Antivirus/spyware that as admin with those tools. Best is limited user (non-admin) and the tools. Don't believe me, here's a MS programmer saying the same thing

I got pest trap and yes was stupid enough to buy it. Microsoft security help live person was extremely helpful. They found it in all of the registeries and helped me download spybot for free and I used microsofts windows live one care. So far so good and yes I got my background back. Next I am disputing the charge through my credit card.

omg!! damn i got the stupid pest trap onto my computer too. i didnt buy it though. what i did was search for it. then i deleted the files related to it. but then after i did that i found out how to get rid of it manually and all that.. but i cant find the registry keys or the processes or anything!!! i deleted the files from my recycle bin as well, and yet i am still getting the "your computer is infected!" popup made from the Pest Trap thing itself. help please????

I recently just bought the full version of Pest Trap because my computer was telling me that I had spyware on my computer that could be searching for my private information and communicating it with the internet. Should I uninstall pest trap now that I bought the full version?

I ran spyware doctor and thought pest trap was gone. next day, my desktop background pix was gone and I cannot access it anymore - anyone heard of this problem? Is pest trap still on my computer?

HI I WAS GETTING PDPUP ADS FROM PEST TRAP CLAIMING I HAD ADWARE AND SPYWARE I HAD WINDOWS DEFENDER IT READ NO SYPWARE AT ALL THEN PEST TRAP SHUT MY COMPUTER DOWN

My PestTrap is weird. It has no processes like "Pesttrap.exe". Instead, there are obscure filenames like "83310.exe". I just deleted those and winstall from the harddrisk. It sucks.
