Security Essentials 2010 is a rogue anti-spyware application that is promoted and installed through the use of Trojans and other malicious software. It's a clone of widely spread scareware called Internet Security 2010. SecurityEssentials2010 reports false scan results and displays fake security alerts in order to trick you into purchasing the program. It wants to make to you think that your computer is infected when in reality the only infection is Security Essentials 2010 itself. Don't purchase this bogus software and remove it from your computer as soon as possible using either manual removal guide or an automatic removal tool for SecurityEssentials 2010.

When running, Security Essentials 2010 will display many fake security alerts claiming that your computer has many security problems. It will also display fake pop-ups and notifications from Task bar. Some of those fake security alerts will claim:

This virus is distributed via the Internet through e-mail and Active-x objects.
The worm has its own SMTP engine which means it gathers e-mails from your local computer and re-distributes itself.
In worst cases this worm can allow attachers to access your computer, stealing passwords and personal data.
Viruses can damage your confidential data and work on your computer.
Continue working in unprotected mode is very dangerous.
In order to protect itself, this fake program will block legitimate anti-spyware and anti-virus software and display “Application cannot be executed” error message. What is more, Security Essentials 2010 will hijack Internet Explorer and your Desktop. It will add several misleading websites in Internet Explorer Trusted websites zone:

As for Desktop, it will change default background image to its own which says “YOUR SYSTEM IS INFECTED”. See the image below.

Without a doubt, SecurityEssentials2010 is a scam. Don't purchase it! If you already did that, contact your credit card company and dispute the charges. Then read removal instructions below and remove Security Essentials 2010 from your computer either manually for free or with an automatic removal tool.
