What is FlippyRoo?
FlippyRoo by SuperWeb LLC is an adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP), which allegedly claims to be able to save people’s time and money. It claims being able to surf the Internet, verify various websites, analyze offers, compare prices and after that deliver the best deals and discounts for you. Sounds good, isn’t it? Unfortunately, FlippyRoo can hardly be useful for you in any sense because it’s main purpose is to promote affiliate websites; therefore, the content of ‘Ads by FlippyRoo’ is really questionable. At best, those ads may contain links to third-party online shopping websites or certain service offering websites, which are not yet popular among Internet users. Unfortunately, some of the FlippyRoo ads may even be linked to really suspicious or malicious websites, which may be involved in the distribution of other potentially unwanted or even dangerous programs. In addition to that, this dubious adware may hijack all the most popular web browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer) and may start tracking you and your browsing activities. In most of the cases, this adware is used to collect information about most frequently visited websites, data entered in them, time spent in them, clicks, PC’s IP address, PC’s location, email address and similar information, which is not considered as personal. If you wonder why FlippyRoo virus seeks to collect such seemingly useless information, then you have to be aware that such data is crucial for affiliate marketing. In order to fix your computer and make sure that it’s PUP-free, you should install a reliable anti-spyware, such as FortectIntego and run a full system scan with it.
How can FlippyRoo hijack my computer?
FlippyRoo can infiltrate your computer very easily if you frequently install free programs on your computer and do not pay enough attention to their installation process. That’s because SuperWeb LLC, developer of this and hundred of other adwares, including Magic Ball, Pine Tree, Simple For You, Water Plant and many others, usually apply ‘bundling’ to spread their products on the Internet. ‘Bundling’ is closely related to various freewares since it’s principle is based on the composition of certain programs. In most of the cases, free programs, such as download managers or media players are filled with third-party apps (add-ons, plug-ins, etc.), which are indicated as ‘optional downloads’ and set by default. Therefore, unless you unmark all additional components, each of them get installed on the system. Fortunately, you can easily prevent this from happening. Whenever you decide to install a freeware on your PC, you should try to find its official website, read EULA, Privacy Policy, and other accessible information. After that, you should opt for Advanced or Custom installation option (instead of Quick or Basic) and look for suspicious check boxes saying that you agree to install FlippyRoo virus or any other program that you are not familiar with. In case you have already failed to do that, you should now take needed actions to get rid of all suspicious programs from your computer.
