Description of GamesCake virus
GamesCake is a gaming website that provides numerous free online games. These games might seem like a fun place to spend leisure time on; however, there is one piece of software that you should not download from this site. If you have ever tried to access GamesCake Premium games section, you probably have encountered an offer to install a program. This program is compatible with Safari, IE, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. You should not install it – it is an adware (potentially unwanted program), which adds a browser extension and tracks your browsing activity. When it collects enough data about your browsing activity (browsing history, search queries, clicks on links, time spent on particular websites and so on), it starts delivering very intrusive web advertisements. Typically, GamesCake ads appear as banners, in-text links or pop-up ads and provide various shopping offers, discount codes, price comparisons, and similar content.

Do not be deceived and do not click on ads by GamesCake; otherwise, you might unintentionally enter high-risk Internet websites. The developers of this ad-supported application want you to click on these ads because they generate pay-per-click profit each time a computer user clicks on one of them. These ads contain links that can lead you to all sorts of Internet sites, and unfortunately, some of them can be dangerous and even filled with malicious content. If you are a security-minded PC user, you probably avoid visiting such websites. Therefore, if you do not want to do it unconsciously, stay clear of these ads and better remove the adware that generates them as soon as possible. You can remove GamesCake with FortectIntego anti-spyware software or manually.

How does this ad-supported software spread?
As we have mentioned, you can download it from its official website. Surprisingly, many users who have discovered this adware on their computers claim that they have never even visited that site. Therefore, it becomes clear that this software is being distributed using different techniques. It seems that it spreads via freeware or shareware. Therefore, if you do not want to allow PUPs like GamesCake hijack your computer system, you should carefully monitor the installation of any free program. The problem is that computer users tend to rush while installing software, so as a result, they end up installing all optional programs that were added to their selected program. To refuse to install these optional apps, choose Advanced or Custom settings and then read the information provided there. If you see any offers to install optional programs, dismiss them.
