What problems can Media Tab virus cause?

Although Media Tab is advertised as a beneficial program for those who love watching movies online, it is better known as Media Tab browser hijacker. This suspicious application is unlikely to be trustworthy because once it is installed, it changes browser’s homepage to the infamous search.mysearch.com search engine, which is well known for redirects it causes. Besides, this potentially unwanted program (PUP) can start sending you intrusive online adverts such as “Media Tab ads,” “powered by Media Tab” or “ads by Media Tab.” If your browser settings were modified by this PUP and if you do not know how to protect your computer against this low-level computer threat, we suggest reading the information provided below.

Media Tab browser hijacker is an untrustworthy program not only because it initiates annoying and possibly dangerous activities on an infected machine, but also because it spreads in a vague way. It uses a deceptive, yet legitimate technique called software bundling. That means it can be installed on your PC with another application at once. After a successful infiltration, this hijacker adds an extension to browsers and, as we have already stated, changes homepage settings. It is strongly advisable NOT to use MySearch search engine, as it typically does not function the way the user wants. Instead of providing regular and secure search results, it supplements them with third-party links.

Therefore, do not be surprised if after clicking one of them you will be rerouted to suspicious-looking web pages. It is believed that Media Tab redirects users to predetermined third-party sites to increase web traffic to them and generate pay-per-click profit. Consider if you want to experience Media Tab redirect issue because one of these redirects can lead you to a malicious website one day. Not even to mention that they are incredibly annoying! To solve these problems, remove Media Tab from your computer (you can use FortectIntego to uninstall it automatically).

When did Media Tab hijack your PC?

As we have mentioned, Media Tab hijacker spreads via other applications, usually freeware. You do not necessarily have to download such software packs from infectious websites – they can be found on various download sites. Bundling is considered a legitimate way of spreading programs, but obviously, computer users do not think that it is a fair method to distribute programs. However, it is almost always possible to refuse to install additional applications when you want to install only one program from a software package. So when you download ANY program from the Internet (no matter that you cannot see any signs of optional programs – not yet), check if it does not have any programs attached to it. For that, set Custom or Advanced settings for the installation. Then the menu window should expand and provide you with a list of “recommended downloads.” If you see such proposals, remove the checkmarks next to them. Then just install your preferred program as you usually do. In case the installer says that you must agree to install optional downloads, do not install such piece of software at all.

How to remove Media Tab?

Luckily, it is not that hard to uninstall Media Tab virus. It can be done automatically with spyware and malware removal tool, for example, FortectIntego. If you do not have such program, we highly recommend you to obtain it. We respect users who do not want to opt for this removal method, so we have prepared a manual Media Tab removal guide. We believe that these instructions will help you to delete the discussed program with ease. Please let us know if you encounter any issues while removing this browser hijacker.
