Boravid Extension is an adware which can initiate unwanted ads on web browser

Boravid virus is promoted as a tool designed to help people “download unlimited videos from Vimeo with a single click.” However, this extension can also fill your favorite websites with sponsored content, such as banner ads, pop-up ads, in-text ads and similar deals. All of them come from the dyaform.com Internet site. This adware mostly targets Google Chrome web browser and can be installed after clicking “Add Extension to leave” popup produced on a searchied.club site by a malicious JavaScript. As a result of such behavior, malware researchers have started labeling this application as an adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP).[1]

Boravid extension

Usually, Boravid Extension is installed when a user tries to leave searchied.club or another website. The parasite gets into the system after the victim is tricked into clicking “Cancel” button under “Add Extension to leave” option. In this case, clicking the button triggers the same pop-up appear again, but this time it will provide an option to “Prevent this page from creating additional dialogs.” If you tick this suggestion and click “OK,” you will be redirected to a page that reveals what browser extension is offered to you. The browser will also be forced into Full-Screen mode then and may even go on a lockdown, blocking you from closing it by hiding your cursor. And all of these inconveniences are forced upon the users because the malware creators simply want to raise money for advertising. When on board, the virus can start filling legitimate websites with sponsored content or unexpectedly redirect the user to poor reputation domains. In fact, there’s plenty websites that you can encounter if you allow this malicious program to perpetuate on your PC. There is no doubt that you should remove Boravid Extension virus and make sure you do that without wasting your time.

Boravid virus

Suspicious browser extensions like this one that are advertised in such aggressive ways, typically have permissions to “Read and change all your data on the websites you visit.” However, they might be able to do more than that. Please beware because some browser extensions can drop malware on your computer without even informing you about it. This way, ad-based programs can be distributed much easier, stay on the infected devices longer and bring more advertising revenue to their creators. Hence, to stop this from happening, we urge you to think about Boravid removal right away. FortectIntego guides you through the elimination process. It goes without telling that you should not agree to install programs or extensions without knowing their purpose.

Distribution methods used by this adware

Potentially unwanted programs like Boravid are not technically illegal, and they can take control of your computer only with your permission. In other words, the user needs to provide permission to install them. The permission can be obtained very easily since the vast majority of computer users tend to underrate the importance of software installation procedure. Sadly, many users believe that “Default” or “Standard” settings are the keys to the successful installation. In some cases – yes, but in the majority of them, these settings hide suggestions to install free third-party software[2] which is not always reliable. If you do not want to become a victim of the hijack, better start checking setup settings and choosing the right setup settings – “Advanced” or “Custom” ones. They will allow you to say no to all unwanted additions when installing a different free program on the system.
