It uses social engineering tactics^[2] to trick people into allowing push notifications. These are deceptive messages that say you have to click the “Allow” button in order to watch a video, confirm your age, that you are not a robot, or download something. Users fail to notice that the button is not on the website itself. Rather, it is a pop-up caused by the browser, which asks if you want the website to send you push notifications.

Of course, after clicking the button, users do not receive anything. There is nothing else to click on or explore. The most likely thing that happens is users are redirected somewhere else.

A growing problem on the internet

Instructions for Windows 10/8  machines:

5. If User Account Control shows up, click Yes.
6. Wait till uninstallation process is complete and click OK.

If you are Windows 7/XP user, proceed with the following instructions:

1. Click on Windows Start > Control Panel located on the right pane (if you are Windows XP user, click on Add/Remove Programs).
2. In Control Panel, select Programs > Uninstall a program.
3. Pick the unwanted application by clicking on it once.
4. At the top, click Uninstall/Change.

If you are using Mac:
