Remove 1M Search virus (Removal Guide) - Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge

removal by Olivia Morelli - - | Type: Stealing programs

What is 1M Search? Why do I see it in my browser?

1M Search virus is a term used to define computer infection[1] that only affects Internet browsers. When the computer gets compromised by such virus, all installed browsers start opening certain websites with the 1M Search engine on them. For example, Searchusatoday.com redirect virus promotes 1M Search engine. This potentially unwanted program (PUP) hijacks browser’s settings, adds extra add-ons[2] and changes homepage or new tab page settings in order to make the browser open 1M Search website each time the user launches the compromised browser, new window or tab in it. If your browser started to open a different website instead of the one that was set as default homepage address previously, consider that your browser was affected by 1M Search hijack[3]. In this happened, we suggest you stop using the described search engine for a while and read the information provided in this article.

Questions about 1M Search virus

1M Search redirect virus has a few unpleasant features. It is a search that inserts paid search results along with organic ones, and clicking on them can take you to unreliable pages on the Internet. It is unlikely that this search engine filters third-party links it chooses to advertise, so expect to visit some vague websites and encounter lots of annoying ads there. You might have to face a lot of pop-up ads[4], banners, or even in-text ads on these websites because the majority of them earn revenue based on pay-per-click advertising scheme. Sadly, clicking on sponsored links on insecure websites can lead to big problems, for instance, malware attacks. Be careful of what you click on because you can easily install malicious programs[5] that can damage your PC or your personal files. Instead of wandering through shady websites that you can come across when exploring 1M Search results, use a more reliable search tool. We highly advise you to remove 1M Search browser hijacker from the system with ReimageIntego and change browser’s settings the way you want them to be.

But how did this suspicious application enter my PC?

It is easy to install similar programs without noticing them because software developers often bundle them with their programs and suggest installing them alongside their products. It is done only for monetization purposes, but you shouldn’t allow these extra programs slip into your computer system unnoticeably. That is why we recommend you to download applications only from secure websites and install them with Advanced or Custom settings. These settings give an option to see bundled components and, if desired, opt-them out. That is exactly what you should be doing every time you install new programs on a computer. Many people make the same mistake – they rely on Default/Standard and sometimes Basic installation settings, which hide statements about bundled downloads or provide them in the fine print. It is not a secret that computer users hardly ever read these statements as they rush to complete the installation.

How to remove 1M Search from my browser?

If you are tired of seeing 1M Search on your homepage and redirects that this search engine causes, you should remove 1M Search virus without any hesitations. Instructions provided below the article should help you to resolve the problem. However, we highly recommend you to complete 1M Search removal with a strong anti-malware program. It will help you to check the system thoroughly and find all potentially dangerous files, programs, and other suspicious components that might be causing danger to your safety and privacy online.

Choose a proper web browser and improve your safety with a VPN tool

Online spying has got momentum in recent years and people are getting more and more interested in how to protect their privacy online. One of the basic means to add a layer of security – choose the most private and secure web browser. Although web browsers can't grant full privacy protection and security, some of them are much better at sandboxing, HTTPS upgrading, active content blocking, tracking blocking, phishing protection, and similar privacy-oriented features. However, if you want true anonymity, we suggest you employ a powerful Private Internet Access VPN – it can encrypt all the traffic that comes and goes out of your computer, preventing tracking completely.

Lost your files? Use data recovery software

While some files located on any computer are replaceable or useless, others can be extremely valuable. Family photos, work documents, school projects – these are types of files that we don't want to lose. Unfortunately, there are many ways how unexpected data loss can occur: power cuts, Blue Screen of Death errors, hardware failures, crypto-malware attack, or even accidental deletion.

To ensure that all the files remain intact, you should prepare regular data backups. You can choose cloud-based or physical copies you could restore from later in case of a disaster. If your backups were lost as well or you never bothered to prepare any, Data Recovery Pro can be your only hope to retrieve your invaluable files.
