Additionalsearch.co.uk is not a virus that could damage your computer or take over your personal information. These third-party links can redirect you to any website, including the malicious one as well. Beware that Additionalsearch.co.uk redirect activity can be really annoying because it slows down your browser and causes other problems that can be solved only if you remove this hijacker from the system. This hijacker can take control of your homepage or the start page without informing. All browsers can be affected because it is compatible with Mozilla, Edge, Chrome, Safari and others. As soon as it starts working, it blocks previously-used search engine. We do not recommend letting this PUP stay on your computer because it initiates annoying pop-up ads and previously-mentioned redirects to suspicious domains. These sites might offer you to gamble, look at some pornographic material or even install a “useful” piece of software which is, in reality, a virus. Finally, we should warn you about tracking which is initiated with the help of cookies. No matter that this browser hijacker does not collect personal information, you should be careful with it. Non-personal data, such as search terms, mostly visited websites and your computer’s IP address, can be used for questionable activities. That’s why we highly recommend you to remove additionalsearch.co.uk right away. You can do it with the help of a security application.

Distribution of this browser hijacker

Additionalsearch.co.uk hijack is enabled when a user fails to check certain installation settings and see what “Recommended” programs were added to the primary program. Due to reckless installation, the optional programs easily get into the system. If you are interested in how you can avoid similar infiltration in the future, switch to “Advanced” or “Custom” instead, and then look through the list of suggested downloads. You might also be asked to change your browser’s settings. Deselect such optional offers and proceed with the installation. Unfortunately, such hidden downloads frequently appear to be useless or even damaging, so obviously, it is better to bypass them. Checking the website and the application’s publisher might also decrease the chances of running into a browser hijacker again.
