You should not tolerate the presence of Addonsmash ads

Addonsmash virus is a cyber infection that infiltrates computers by stealth and starts making changes to the Web browser and the computer system. Those infected, however, might not immediately notice that their Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, MS Edge, or another browser has been hijacked. Likewise, people might notice the first signs of infection relatively soon if they are attentive enough, as they would see a progressively increasing number of ads and redirects.

While some people might believe that they have been infected by a virus, it is not completely true. Addonsmash is actually an advertising network that allows website creators to monetize by showing visitors ads. However, extensions and other programs that enable these ads are usually spread via software bundling, which results in unintentional infiltration. Hence, the app can be categorized as a potentially unwanted program.

Name Addonsmash ads
Type Adware

Removal You can either perform a full system scan with SpyHunterCombo Cleaner or follow manual elimination instructions below
System fix After the elimination of adware or malware, we highly recommend running a scan with FortectIntego repair software

Though adware infection is a singular event, the infection grows progressively more complex and aggressive as time goes by. Thus, it may seem that new features keep emerging when in reality, they simply intensify. This is typical behavior of a potentially unwanted program,[1], and with an addition of sponsored ads that this virus injects into the random web pages, it surely deserves the title of an adware-type [2] infection.

Adware viruses are known for their intrusive behavior on the victim’s browser. In particular, they initiate unexpected redirects, generate pop-up ads, stuff web pages with sponsored links that can be recognized from such markings as “Ads by Addonsmash” typically added to the top section of the ad [3].

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, act immediately and don’t wait till you are randomly dropped off on some potentially dangerous domain and your computer gets infected with even more dangerous malware. Before you take steps to remove adware from your computer, please remember that this PUP may be well hidden in your system, so it might be difficult to get rid of manually.

For this purpose, we recommend obtaining automatic, powerful virus-detection software, such as SpyHunterCombo Cleaner, and then running the scan of your entire system. Also, if you want to automatically get rid of PUP leftovers from the browser, scan your machine with FortectIntego repair and maintenance utility.

The victims of this adware point out that their browsing experiences have deteriorated not only because of the extensive advertising but also because of the malfunctioning applications. The users claim that the browser becomes unresponsive and crashes more frequently.

Also, web pages take a painstakingly long time to load. Such malfunctions are mainly due to the poor programming of the virus but are also caused by the overladen CPU utilization [4]. Inability to have full control over the browser is especially dangerous when dealing with redirect issues.

You cannot escape the suspicious pages or stop unwanted downloads quickly, so, naturally, your device becomes more vulnerable to malware infections. To eliminate this virus from the contaminated device, please see the adware removal recommendations in the last section of the article.

Adware is usually hiding within software bundles

Potentially unwanted programs usually infiltrate computers by employing misleading infiltration tactics [5]. It all starts with a careless download while the rest of the hijack progresses on itself. This actually means that the users are responsible for letting this virus into their computers themselves. Can this be stopped? It sure can.

You just have to be aware of the fact that potentially unwanted program developers usually hide malware installation agreements under the “Advanced” and “Default” installation settings and hope that the unsuspecting users go for the “Quick” or “Recommended” ones. So, to be able to monitor all of the installation steps, opt for the former ones and deselect the potentially unwanted components.

Addonsmash removal steps

One of the simplest adware removal approaches is automatic extermination. The main tools required for this approach are a trustworthy antivirus utility and a little bit of your time. The software should detect all of the virus components and eliminate them automatically.

Your task, in this case, is to update the antivirus utility to its latest version. To keep your computer entirely safe, you should keep your virus-fighting tool up-to-date at all times for it to be able not only to remove Addonsmash but also protect your device from other malware threats.
