What is Crime Watch?
Crime Watch ads may flood your web browser out of nowhere and disrupt your normal web browsing activities. If it has already happened, it means that you have recently installed a freeware with a bundle and accepted to install additional components. Crime Watch often travels as an ‘optional download’ to various download managers, PDF creators, media players and so on. In order to prevent its infiltration keep an eye on every check box during installation process of a freeware. We have managed to find official website of this adware and found out that it promises to deliver alerts about various crimes that has happened in your region. Well, it may seem useful for someone who are news fanatic, but we would better recommend visiting some reliable news website instead.
It seems that Crime Watch is closely related to third parties and seeks to trick people in order to gain profit. No, it doesn’t steal money, but is makes people to visit questionable websites and track their web browsing activities. This misleading add-on is managed by third parties and seek to drive visitors traffic to predetermined websites. For that reason it displays tens of annoying pop-up, banner, and in-text Crime Watch ads that, usually, are filled with sponsored links and redirect people the websites that are not related to the content of the ads. Be careful because you can never be sure if you are redirected to safe website or not. By the way, you can not be sure what information Crime Watch virus collects as well. It is known that it’s specifically interested in your search terms, websites visited, data entered and time spend there, IP address, email address and similar things. Unfortunately, no one guarantees that cyber criminals won’t try to reuse cookies of this adware in order to track your keystrokes and collect hardware information. Therefore, do not hesitate any longer and run a full system scan with FortectIntego or FortectIntego if you have already received ‘Ads by Crime Watch’, ‘brough to you by Crime Watch’, etc.

How can Crime Watch hijack my computer?
Similarly to most of the other adware-type programs Crime Watch can be downloaded manually from its official website if you really believe that it’s useful. However, as you have probably understood, we do not recommend doing so. Besides, it is distributed bundled with various free programs and very often gets inside user’s computer unnoticed without a direct permission asked. That’s because security experts have agreed upon labeling this program as a potentially unwanted program. In order to avoid its infiltration, be very careful when installing various download managers, video streaming software, music players, PDF creators and other popular free software. Even well-known programs are bundled, so it goes without saying that questionable programs, usually, carries additional attachments, such as Crime Watch. That’s why you should always select Advanced or Custom installation option and read every single line in order to spot suggestions to install Crime Watch or any other dubious browser add-on, plug-in, toolbar or extension.
