GameZooks. What kind of software it is and what should you should know about it?

GameZooks is a free browser plug-in that provides access to the hundreds of Flash games. However, this app has already aroused various discussions among Internet users, and the majority of the complain that this app has not been awaited on their computers. To be more precise, it is blamed for stealthy distribution method and deemed as a virus. Internet users unitedly claim that GameZooks has caused constant pop-ups, new tab ads, redirects, slow runtime and system freezes.

Respectively, we have tested this app and have found that it is yet another adware that can also be assigned to the ‘potentially unwanted programs’ (PUPs) category. Although the flash games it offers can be accessed via the official website, the plug-in itself is distributed as an attachment of other freewares and sharewares. This explains the fact why Internet users are commonly confused about the presence of GameZooks virus on their computers if they have not installed it manually. If it manages to get installed, it may install a plug-in on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and other Internet browsers that can be found on the computer. Besides, it may corrupt various settings and start tracking user’s browsing activities to learn more about his/her browsing habits. For that, GameZooks installs tracking cookies and collects user’s search terms, investigates most frequently visited websites, data entered in them, clicks, IP address, PC’s location, email address, and so on. Although such performance does not seem dangerous, data collection and sharing with third parties without requiring authorization is not a fair activity whatsoever.

Questions about Ads by GameZooks

By the way, GameZooks is a kind of adware that may display both reliable and misleading advertisements. If you had inspected its official website, you would see that it is full of banners and in-text links promoting questionable games and services. Unfortunately, once you install this plug-in, you may receive a continuous flow of pop-ups, banners, pop-unders, in-text links, etc. Such content is mostly labeled as “Ads by GameZooks,” “GameZooks Ads,”, “Powered by GameZooks,” and so on. This content might be filled not only with commercial offers, but may also with offers to update software (Java, Flash Player, Media Player, etc.), check your computer for viruses for free, participate in a survey and similar services that are highly doubtful. Remember that GameZooks is a PUP, and it might promote third-party websites, so do not be surprised if you end up on infectious websites online after clicking on its ads. In order to protect the computer from various PC threats, we recommend securing your PC with ReimageIntego or another anti-spyware and removing GameZooks virus right away.

How can GameZooks hijack my computer?

While GameZooks adware has an official website, the plug-in can only be downloaded in a bundle with another freeware and shareware. It means that it is hardly possible to install it for a reason. GameZooks hijack is more likely to happen if you fail to monitor freeware’s installation process properly. If you want to keep your computer stable and safe from PUPs, then always check Advanced/Custom settings and monitor the entire process carefully. Otherwise, you may skip ‘optional downloads’ undetected and leave them marked by default which means that you may unconsciously agree to install them. In case you have already installed GameZooks, perform its removal right now. To find GameZooks uninstall guide, proceed to read on page 2.

Access your website securely from any location

When you work on the domain, site, blog, or different project that requires constant management, content creation, or coding, you may need to connect to the server and content management service more often. The best solution for creating a tighter network could be a dedicated/fixed IP address.

If you make your IP address static and set to your device, you can connect to the CMS from any location and do not create any additional issues for the server or network manager that needs to monitor connections and activities. VPN software providers like Private Internet Access can help you with such settings and offer the option to control the online reputation and manage projects easily from any part of the world.

Recover files after data-affecting malware attacks

While much of the data can be accidentally deleted due to various reasons, malware is one of the main culprits that can cause loss of pictures, documents, videos, and other important files. More serious malware infections lead to significant data loss when your documents, system files, and images get encrypted. In particular, ransomware is is a type of malware that focuses on such functions, so your files become useless without an ability to access them.

Even though there is little to no possibility to recover after file-locking threats, some applications have features for data recovery in the system. In some cases, Data Recovery Pro can also help to recover at least some portion of your data after data-locking virus infection or general cyber infection.
