What is ZoomIt?
As you probably have already understood, ZoomIt is a tool able to zoom all images on the Web. Even though we doubt about this service, we cannot claim that it's not working. However, there are several reasons why we do not recommend installing this application. We will provide you with two short extracts from ZoomIt's End-User's License Agreement
“The Software may also provide you with advertisements for 3rd party sites, not qualifying as Our product (“Sponsored Results”), and which shall be dubbed “Sponsored” or otherwise differentiated from Our product.”
“The Software communicates with Our product and may obtain certain information regarding your use of the Software, including data on your internet browsing history. Our product use of such information is governed by the Site’s Privacy Policy.”
These are the two main reasons why ZoomIt has been categorized as an adware. As these excerpts notify, this browser add-on is ad-supported and set to display 'sponsored' advertisements. Thus, if you install it, you will immediately start receiving 'Ads by ZoomIt' that are not recommended clicking. That's because the links that third parties embed in these ads are not monitored or checked in any way. Therefore, you cannot be sure if they reroute you to safe and reliable websites. In addition to that, consider privacy-related issues. On the one hand, it cannot be stated that ZoomIt virus does not inform about cookies that it uses because such information is clearly provided on its official website. On the other hand, many people have already been tricked into installing this plug-in along with freewares and does not even noticed its presence. It means that they were informed directly neither about third-party advertising, nor about cookies that will continuously track them. In this case, it may be related to privacy violation since the majority of people are not willing to disclose their browsing history, IP address, email address, and similar information. It doesn't matter if you installed ZoomIt app willingly or if you have started seeing ZoomIt ads as if out of nowhere, you should eliminate it without any delay. For that, we recommend using FortectIntego.
How can ZoomIt hijack my computer?
As we have already mentioned, ZoomIt promoted on its official website. In fact, it's a legitimate application that people don't mind the fact that it's ad-supported. Unfortunately, security experts have noticed that it is also actively distributed along with various freewares and sharewares. There is a long list of programs that are filled with 'optional downloads'. Thus, no matter that you have downloaded a freeware from a reliable download source and that you are familiar with it, you should check it anyway. We recommend reading it's EULA, users' reports, and other relevant information in order to make sure that there is nothing suspicious about it. After that, it's a must to select Advanced or Custom installation option and check every check box step-by-step. We recommend you to look for ticks that are already marked for you and carefully read what they notify. We are pretty sure that such tick will speak about additional components that you are looking for to opt out of. Make sure that you unmark all of them and only then finish the process. Otherwise, ZoomIt redirects may start bothering.
