How to remove Blind Eye Locker ransomware

A step-by-step removal guide for affected devices. Follow the verified procedure below — most readers complete it in under 10 minutes.

Blind Eye Locker ransomware encrypts users' files so they cannot be opened

Blind Eye Locker is a malicious program that acts as a file locker. It encrypts users' personal files, like photos, videos, and documents so they are no longer accessible to the user. The main purpose of ransomware is to blackmail victims into paying money for their data's description.

During the encryption process, the malicious program displays a fake Windows system update, so users would not suspect a thing. The affected files are renamed with a random character string. If a file is named picture.jpg, after encryption, it would appear as Ty3vyuy= and similar. After the encryption process is over, Blind Eye Locker creates a message named README_[random_digit].txt.

NAME Blind Eye Locker
TYPE  Ransomware, cryptovirus, data locking malware
DISTRIBUTION Email attachments, peer-to-peer file-sharing platforms, malicious ads
FILE EXTENSION Random character string
RANSOM NOTE README_[random_number].txt
FILE RECOVERY It is almost impossible to recover the files if you do not have backups. We provide a third-party recovery option in our guide.
MALWARE REMOVAL Scan your machine with anti-malware software to eliminate malicious files. This will not recover them.
SYSTEM FIX Windows reinstallation can be avoided with FortectIntego maintenance tool, which can fix the damaged OS

The ransom note

Blind Eye Locker ransomware drops a README_[random_number].txt ransom note on the machine which reads as follows:

Blind Eye Locker
All of your files have been encrypted
Your computer was infected with a hornet ransomware . Your files have been encrypted and you won't
be able to decrypt them without our help. What can I do to get my files back? You can contact creator of this locker and decrypt your files for free , remove the
locker  from your computer.decryption is frre so dont stress and concats us.

Rember! you can only conctact creator by discord

Concact : Pomegranate(Tnipples)#4085

Your personal Id:

The ransom note informs the victim that all of their files have been encrypted and that they will be unable to decrypt[1] them unless the cybercriminals assist them. The ransom note directs the victim to contact the locker's creators via Discord and provides a username for the victim to use. The note also states that the decryption is free and that the victim should not be concerned. However, they may still ask for payment.

Paying cybercriminals is a bad idea because it encourages and funds their illegal activities. Paying the ransom does not ensure that the cybercriminals will provide the decryption key or restore access to the victim's files. Furthermore, by paying the ransom, victims expose themselves to additional attacks by the same or other cybercriminals, who may see them as an easy target for future ransomware attacks.

Distribution methods

As you eliminate the threat, you'll be able to learn more about how this could have happened in the first place. Email attachments are the most common method of ransomware distribution. They are frequently used to infect both home users and businesses. Crooks use social engineering[2] to convince victims to open malicious attachments attached to emails.

Always ensure that the email is sent from someone you know. If you were not expecting the email, you should also double-check with the other person using a different service. When a malicious file is opened, it can immediately deploy malware, so users should exercise extreme caution.

Torrent websites are another common source of ransomware infections. Because they are unregulated, they serve as a breeding ground for various types of malware. Malicious applications can be included in installers, or malware and PUPs (potentially unwanted programs)[3] can be disguised as “useful” tools. When installing software, it is best to use official web stores and developer sites. Third-party websites should not be relied on. Even though it may be costly, keeping your system running smoothly may save you money in the long run.

Use professional security tools to eliminate ransomware

The first thing you should do is disconnect the affected machine from the local network. For home users, disconnecting the ethernet cable or disabling Wi-Fi should suffice. If this occurred at your workplace, doing so may be difficult, so we have provided separate instructions at the bottom of this post for you.

Attempting to recover your data first may result in permanent loss. If malware is not removed first, it can encrypt your files a second time. It will not stop until the malicious files that are causing it are removed. Unless you have exceptional IT skills, you should not attempt to remove the malicious program yourself.

Use anti-malware tools like SpyHunterCombo Cleaner or MalwarebytesMalwarebytes to scan your system. This security software should find all the related files and entries and remove them automatically for you. In some cases, malware can prevent you from using antivirus software, so you need to access Safe Mode and perform a full system scan from there:

Windows 7 / Vista / XP

  1. Click Start > Shutdown > Restart > OK.
  2. When your computer becomes active, start pressing the F8 button (if that does not work, try F2, F12, Del, etc. – it all depends on your motherboard model) multiple times until you see the Advanced Boot Options window.
  3. Select Safe Mode with Networking from the list.

Windows 10 / Windows 8

  1. Right-click on the Start button and select Settings.
  2. Scroll down to pick Update & Security.
  3. On the left side of the window, pick Recovery.
  4. Now scroll down to find the Advanced Startup section.
  5. Click Restart now.
  6. Select Troubleshoot.
  7. Go to Advanced options.
  8. Select Startup Settings.
  9. Click Restart.
  10. Press 5 or click 5) Enable Safe Mode with Networking.

Fix system errors to prevent Windows reinstallation

Performance, stability, and usability issues, to the point where a complete Windows reinstall is required, are expected after a malware infection. These types of viruses can alter the Windows registry database, damage vital bootup, and other functions, delete or corrupt DLL files, etc. Once a system file is damaged by malware, antivirus software will not able to repair it.

This is why FortectIntego was developed. This powerful software can fix a lot of the damage caused by Blind Eye Locker ransomware. Blue Screen errors, freezes, registry errors, damaged DLLs, etc., can make your computer completely unusable. By using this maintenance tool, you could avoid Windows reinstallation.

  • Download the application by clicking on the link above
  • Click on the ReimageRepair.exe
  • If User Account Control (UAC) shows up, select Yes
  • Press Install and wait till the program finishes the installation process
  • The analysis of your machine will begin immediately
  • Once complete, check the results – they will be listed in the Summary
  • You can now click on each of the issues and fix them manually
  • If you see many problems that you find difficult to fix, we recommend you purchase the license and fix them automatically.Reimage results

File recovery options

Many people believe that anti-malware tools can repair their files, but this is not the case. All security tools can do is detect and eliminate suspicious processes in your system. The files can only be restored with a decryption key or software that only cybercriminals have.

If you did not back up your data previously, it might be possible that you will never get them back. You can try using data recovery software, but we have to note that third-party programs cannot always decrypt the files. We suggest at least trying this method. Before proceeding, you have to copy the corrupted files and place them in a USB flash drive or another storage. And remember – only do this if you have already removed the Blind Eye Locker ransomware.

Before you begin, several pointers are essential while dealing with this situation:

  • Since the encrypted data on your computer might permanently be damaged by security or data recovery software, you should first make backups of it – use a USB flash drive or another storage.
  • Only attempt to recover your files using this method after you perform a scan with anti-malware software.

Install data recovery software

  1. Download Data Recovery Pro.
  2. Double-click the installer to launch it.
  3. Follow on-screen instructions to install the software.Install program
  4. As soon as you press Finish, you can use the app.
  5. Select Everything or pick individual folders where you want the files to be recovered from.Select what to recover
  6. Press Next.
  7. At the bottom, enable Deep scan and pick which Disks you want to be scanned.Select Deep scan
  8. Press Scan and wait till it is complete.
  9. You can now pick which folders/files to recover – don't forget you also have the option to search by the file name!
  10. Press Recover to retrieve your files.Recover files
