Remove BrowserSafer adware (Virus Removal Instructions)

removal by Olivia Morelli - -   Also known as Browser Safer | Type: Adware

BrowserSafer is naturally a utility that should ensure a secure browsing environment. In other words, it is supposed to block malicious websites, prevent users from landing on phishing sites, inform about scam attacks, and so on. Unfortunately, but it is a bit controversial application because, according to security experts, it may hold some doubtful content and cause some security issues itself. If you have just noticed browsersafer.exe running in Task Manager, “Ads by BrowserSafer” during browsing, BrowserSafer folder and other signs that inform about the presence of this tool, run a full system check with ReimageIntego. It will help you to remove this ‘security utility’ without a delay.

Why can’t BrowserSafer add-on be trusted?

BrowserSafer is a potentially unwanted program (PUP). Besides, it belongs to the ‘adware’ category. Do you know what does such categorization mean? It means that this application that pretends to be a browser’s protector can slither onto your computer without requiring authorization. Besides, it may start performing various unwanted activities to serve third parties and help them increase advertising revenue.

BrowserSafer virus

To reach its goals, it is set to hijack web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari) and start tracking user’s activities on each of them. As stated in the Privacy Policy, the app “may collect personally-identifiable information through the use of our Services upon your contacting us so that we may respond to your questions or comments, such as your name, email or mailing address, or other information you include when contacting us.” Besides, URLs visited, search queries, clicks, interference with advertisements, and similar information may be gathered. Later on, it may be transmitted to third-party advertisers who would render collected information for a preparation of customized advertisements. Don’t fall into believing that “Ads by BrowserSafer” are presenting you with the reliable deals, discounts, coupons, and similar shopping-related things because it’s not. All BrowserSafer ads are predetermined, what means that they are filled with third-party content, which is not necessarily safe to encounter. Thus, this browser add-on promises to keep you safe, while, on the contrary, it may provide you with suspicious ads and make visit unreliable third-party websites.

Why do I experience BrowserSafer redirects?

BrowserSafer redirects can bother people whose computers are infected with BrowserSafer adware. It might be that some of the users have installed it with a reason from the official website. However, the majority of them has installed the tool in a bundle with another freeware. That is why BrowserSafer is commonly accused of being a virus. Fortunately, it is not. To avoid its infiltration or all PUPs, in general, we will only ask you to start selecting “advanced” or “custom” installation of freeware. This way, all ‘optional components’ will be disclosed to you and you will be able to opt out of them.

What steps should I take to remove BrowserSafer virus?

To remove BrowserSafer, you should either install/update a trustworthy anti-spyware or initiate a system check by yourself. The first method is, of course, more reliable because by using anti-spyware you will ensure a full system check and removal of all PUPs. Please, do not ignore BrowserSafer ads because no one known what kind of content they may be used for promoting. Therefore, once clicked they can cause infiltration of other PUPs.

Stream videos without limitations, no matter where you are

There are multiple parties that could find out almost anything about you by checking your online activity. While this is highly unlikely, advertisers and tech companies are constantly tracking you online. The first step to privacy should be a secure browser that focuses on tracker reduction to a minimum.

Even if you employ a secure browser, you will not be able to access websites that are restricted due to local government laws or other reasons. In other words, you may not be able to stream Disney+ or US-based Netflix in some countries. To bypass these restrictions, you can employ a powerful Private Internet Access VPN, which provides dedicated servers for torrenting and streaming, not slowing you down in the process.

Data backups are important – recover your lost files

Ransomware is one of the biggest threats to personal data. Once it is executed on a machine, it launches a sophisticated encryption algorithm that locks all your files, although it does not destroy them. The most common misconception is that anti-malware software can return files to their previous states. This is not true, however, and data remains locked after the malicious payload is deleted.

While regular data backups are the only secure method to recover your files after a ransomware attack, tools such as Data Recovery Pro can also be effective and restore at least some of your lost data.
