Gifables Toolbar (Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge) - Simple Removal Guide

Gifables Toolbar Removal Guide

What is Gifables Toolbar?

Reasons why Gifables Toolbar should not be installed on your browser

Gifables Toolbar is an application created by Mindspark Interactive Network, Inc. This browser extension allows viewing and sharing gifs, and replaces default browser’s search engine to hp.myway.com. Nevertheless, this program has an official download website; it can also get inside computer silently. It’s one of the reasons why Gifables is known as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and a browser hijacker.[1] Once it gets installed, it not only changes browser’s settings but starts tracking user’s activities online and allows third-parties collect various information as well. Thus, when having this program installed, you let unknown companies know your IP address, browser-related information, search keywords, visited pages and browsing history, etc. All this information is mostly used for behavioral advertising.[2] Therefore, you can expect to see numerous pop-ups and online ads when browsing the web. Probably, you have already heard that ads are not only annoying. They might be dangerous too. Thus, you should not hesitate and remove Gifables Toolbar from the computer. Besides, if it sneaked into PC unnoticed, you should run a full system scan with FortectIntego and make sure that other PUPs haven’t been installed tool.

The image of Gifables Toolbar

So-called Gifables virus cannot cause direct damage to the computer. It’s not an actual virus; it’s just a potentially unwanted program. However, after the installation, it replaces your current default search engine with an unknown tool. At first glance, it might look reliable because it claims to be enhanced by Google. However, we want to point out that it’s not the same as Google. Once you enter search queries, you are redirected to the MyWay results page, and this search tool is known as a suspicious browser hijacker too. Thus, you can find lots of sponsored links in the results page. Unfortunately, some of the Gifables redirect tendencies are not safe and sound. Third-party links may lead to the potentially dangerous websites where you can be tricked into installing bogus software or get involved in some online scam. Thus, looking for necessary information might be dangerous.

Gifables might also be capable of delivering numerous online ads. As you already know, this browser extension might track information about you. The main reason why it is done is the attempt to profit from online advertising. When you click on a third-party ad, developers generate revenue. In order to encourage you to click, they collect information about your interests and based on this knowledge they provide personalized ads on each visited website. Sadly, some of the commercial content might also be misleading and redirect to dangerous sites or install malware. Thus, you should stay away from them and perform Gifables removal. It’s the only way to get back to normal browsing, get rid of a suspicious search engine, and stop data tracking.

The toolbar might be promoted in software bundles

People can download Gifables not only from the official website that has a huge green download button. This app is also advertised in software bundles. Thus, you can find this app offered to download when installing freeware or shareware. However, in order to find and reject installation of this toolbar, you need to opt for Advanced/Custom installation mode. Sadly, computer users still rarely do that. Users still rely on Quick/Recommended method and unintentionally agree to install all PUPs that might have been included in a software package. The problem is that such setup does not inform about third-party apps. As a result, Gifables hijack might occur. Thus, in order to avoid unwanted toolbars, browser extensions, and other programs, you should always go for Advanced/Custom setup and carefully follow each step.

Tips for eliminating Gifables Toolbar

If you installed the program yourself, it should be enough to remove Gifables from the list of browser’s extensions. This add-on is compatible with Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari web browsers. Thus, you should check recently installed extensions and uninstall suspicious entries. However, if this hijacker arrived in the software bundle, you should also check whether other unknown programs haven’t been installed on your PC too. Thus, you can perform either manual Gifables Toolbar removal by following our prepared instructions, or you can opt for the automatic elimination option and use an anti-malware program.
