Remove Googlesearch.me virus (Easy Removal Guide) - Improved Instructions

removal by Olivia Morelli - - | Type: Browser hijacker

The main reasons why Googlesearch.me redirects and pop-ups should not be ignored

Googlesearch.me virus

Googlesearch.me is an untrustworthy domain that might replace your browser’s start page without your request to do so. It tracks user’s searches and transfers them to Yhsearch.club domain before landing the victim on a page that provides SaferBrowser Yahoo search results. The suspicious search page can unexpectedly trigger Onclkds.com pop-ups advertising all kinds of deceptive ads.

Results brought by this search engine are considered dangerous[1] as they can lead to deceptive external sites. Chances are, clicking on them can trigger redirects to phishing or fraudulent sites pushing spyware or even malware to computer users. Therefore, we strongly recommend you to be careful while exploring the results brought to you by this fake search site that pretends to be related to Google (and obviously isn’t).

In addition, Googlesearch.me virus asks the victim to enter his/her own name into a search box provided at the top of the page. Since this hijacker collects all search terms the victim enters, we STRONGLY recommend you not to enter any information that could disclose your identity to developers of this vague search tool.

Speaking of data collection, we must say that the deceptive program that replaced your browser’s homepage with Googlesearch.me page belongs to browser hijacker category. This potentially unwanted program (PUP) can not only record your name entered into the search box but also your IP address, geolocation, browsing history, ads clicked and other pieces of data.

Another reason not to trust this suspicious search engine is that it keeps opening Onclkds.com ads at random times. These ads might show up after clicking on a random spot on Googlesearch.me site. We have noticed that the majority of the deceptive ads that show up claim that “a trojan virus (e.tre456_worm_osx) on your Mac” was detected.

However, you should ignore these ads as they provide no actual information about your system status. These frightening messages are simply designed to scare you and force you to install a system optimization software.

Googlesearch.me hijackGooglesearch.me is extremely deceptive search site that you should avoid using by any means.

To remove Googlesearch.me virus from your browser, you need to locate and eliminate all files related to it. Usually, this browser hijacker hides in web browsers in the form of a deceptive extension[2], although it can also sneakily control your browsers via a certain program that you installed unknowingly.

Googlesearch.me removal might get complicated in case you are dealing with a hijacker that modifies browser’s shortcuts. However, the guide we prepared explains how to apply necessary fixes and wipe out all of the hijacker’s components for good. If you want to speed up the removal, you can use programs like Reimage Reimage Cleaner Intego or SpyHunter 5Combo Cleaner.

Ways to place fake Google search engine in your browser

If your browser suddenly started redirecting you to described domain on a daily basis, you should rethink your software installation habits. If you tend to choose Default or Standard settings for software installation, you should forget this habit immediately. It is the quickest way to contaminate your PC with unwanted programs.

To prevent installation of unnecessary/unwanted programs, always select Custom or Advanced installation settings. Then you need to look over the list of suggested programs and deselect the suspicious ones. In fact, we recommend deselecting all of them (for your own safety).

Zondervirus.nl reports[3] that similar programs can infiltrate your computer after visiting hazardous Internet sites such as file sharing sites that offer free MP3 or video downloads. You should be extremely careful when downloading content from P2P sharing networks as well.
