If you have noticed Gotowebs.com virus on the device, then you are dealing with a browser hijacker. The essence of this PUP is to direct you to third-party websites or show advertising content of other companies. After the infiltration, the hijacker may also add additional toolbars and plug-ins to the browser. Likewise, gotowebs.com redirect tendency might become a bothersome phenomenon. While this hijacker stays on the system, an excessive amount of ads and commercial offers will be a prevalent phenomenon. What is more, it is unsure how the browsing tool manages your technical information, i.e. browsing data, IP address, and search entries. In any case, a browser hijacker is surely not the tool which should operate on the PC. If you are interested in quick gotowebs.com removal, install Reimage.

The category of browser hijackers is full of diverse samples. Some appeal to users, who seek more professional quality and concentrate less on the design, while others try to attract users who spend time on entertainment rather than the collection relevant information. Likewise, Go to Webs hijacker attempts to appeal to the second group of hackers which prefer playing games and read intriguing articles. However, such website overcrowded with links to gaming websites fails to perform the role of a proper search engine. In the case of this browsing tool, it employs Yahoo database instead of its original one. However, the search engine applies a certain layer which enables to filter your browsing traffic.

In other words, the hijacker monitors your search entries, visited web pages, and locates the IP address. Such information is of high interest for online advertising companies. Since the hijacker does not declare clear privacy policy provisions, the hijacker may as well sell or simply share the automatically collected data with its partners. As a result, a number of personalized ads flood your PC screen. What is more, the hijacker also disables the security plug-ins if you were using them previously. This flaw might be crucial as you may enter the website which is heavily infected with various malware. Therefore, we recommend you to remove gotowebs.com right away.

How does the PUP invade PCs?

You might have enabled gotowebs.com hijack when you were installing a new file converter or movie streaming application. PC optimization tools also happen to be the carriers of PUPs. If you are interested in preventing any browser hijacker, adware, and other possibly fraudulent application, you should change the sequence of actions. Instead of usually opting for “Recommended” settings, choose “Custom’ settings. Likewise, you will be able to spot optional programs which often happen to be PUPs. After you unmark each pre-checked attachment, continue installing the preferred application.
