Principles of Magic Disk operation

Magic Disk is a controversial piece of software which receives quite a lot of critique from the users and security experts alike. This tool is designed to provide users with the ability to create ISO files [1], mount them as a separate drive letter on Windows OS.
However, the functionality of this tool is not of our main interest. What we are more concerned about is how this software spreads around the web, what side-effects are triggered by its appearance on the computer and what additional programs travel along with it.
What the research has shown is not at all reassuring. It turns out that users rarely install this tool on their computers themselves and, more commonly, the program gets installed without any prior notice. That confuses and infuriates the users who were not even planning on obtaining such a program in the first place.
Because of such behavior, the program has been labeled an adware [2]. The experts recommend the victims of this fraudulent distribution strategy to remove Magic Disk from their devices. Since the software does not have an uninstall option, you may have to use third-party software such as FortectIntego to a dispose of its components.

When it comes to the program’s behavior, users complain that after this tool had shown up on their PCs, there were also some changes that negatively affected computer usage experience. For some, the device started operating slower; some programs were crashing out of the blue, while the others could not use their web browser normally because of the intense advertising issue.
These were the Magic Disk ads that the users were talking about. The program is monetized via revenue collected from advertising, so as long as it stays on your computer, your online browsing will be burdened by the redirects and aggressive pop-ups. Besides, the program may also collect your personal information and sell them to advertising-oriented buyers.
Luckily, it seems that all ad-related issues can be quickly eliminated by performing Magic Disk removal. You can start the system scan with antivirus utility and dispose of the virus manually, following the instructions below the article.
Distribution strategies used to spread the virus around
Magic Disk may not have its official website from which the users could download the tool directly, but its developers will sure employ a bunch of other deceptive strategies to get this program on your computer. These are the main methods that may be applied:
- Software bundling. As we’ve mentioned previously in the article, Magic Disk travels attached to freeware and shareware software that the users download off of the Internet for free. Such software packages do not openly disclose what additional content they carry. Thus you should always select Advanced installation mode when setting up software on your PC and opt out the unwanted components manually.
- Pop-up ads. You may be offered to install this tool by a random pop-up that you come across while browsing through poor reputation websites. Make sure you avoid such sites to stay safe.
- Download buttons. Unsafe websites may also feature random download buttons and urge users to click on them by employing eye-catching design. Beware of such buttons as they often hide some junkware or a full-blown virus download links behind them.
