General information about Max-search2016.com virus
So-called Max-search2016.com virus is another bogus search engine that appears on affected web browser and delivers modified search results, advertisements and initiates unwanted redirects to questionable or promotional websites. This computer infection is not an actual virus; it is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and, more specifically, it’s a browser hijacker. Previously we talked about Led-search2016.com – another corrupted search engine that might be closely related to Max-search2016.com. Both search engines are visually identical. The cyan-blue page includes search bar and eight themed blocks with various links. Clicking these links and looking what they hide is not recommended activity. These links might lead to potentially dangerous websites and cause serious computer infections. We do not recommend testing this corrupted search engine as well. Search results might include links that lead to suspicious websites, and some of them might be created for spreading malware. Even though browser hijacker is not malicious itself, some of its delivered content might be harmful. For this reason, you should remove Max-search2016.com without any hesitation. FortectIntego will help you to speed up elimination process and delete all virus-related files.
Hijacker spreads bundled with freeware and, once it gets inside, it affects web browsers. As you already know, it might change homepage and default search engine, and users see its domain every time they open the browser. Bear in mind that Max-search2016.com virus might target all web browsers that are installed on your PC. So, you cannot run away from it easily by changing your default browser. Hijacker installs additional components and modifies browser’s settings in order to stay longer in the system. It prevents users from restoring previous settings and simply uninstalling it. However, Max-search2016.com removal is possible and strongly recommended. Browser hijacker is a money making tool for developers. They use aggressive online marketing strategies to boost traffic to various websites or promote questionable products and services. Unfortunately, users do not get any benefits from it. They cannot access reliable search providers and find useful information using this search engine. Moreover, browsing the Internet is always interrupted by various advertisements and pop-ups appearing on the screen. Lastly, Max-search2016.com redirect issue bothers users a lot, because they unexpectedly end up on weird websites that they would not visit under normal conditions. By entering and visiting questionable sites, users might catch other computer infections, or tracking cookies might be installed to the browser. In this case, shady third-party tools might collect both – your personal and private information. Indeed, this activity might lead to serious privacy issues.

How to avoid hijack?
The biggest chance to encounter Max-search2016.com hijack is to install a free program using “Basic” or “Quick” installation mode. Browser hijacker, as well as other potentially unwanted programs, spread bundled with the regular software. The developers add their product as “optional program”; however, “Quick” installation setup does not allow choosing either you want to install these programs or not. It installs optional programs by default. Unfortunately, the majority of computer users still use this installation mode, because it’s quicker and simpler. If you are one of them, you should know that PUP removal takes longer than software installation with “Advanced” or “Custom” setup. These settings reveal all additional programs and let decline their installation.
