Mbrowser.us virus. How to remove? (Uninstall guide)

Instead of letting searching for the information properly Mbrowser.us redirects to sponsored sites

The main page of Mbrowser.us search engine

Mbrowser.us (also known as Moppo Browser) is a browser hijacker that is advertised as an advanced search engine. This tool belongs to AirFind that are known for creating numerous similar programs. Besides, it is closely related to another browser hijacker – Trivago. It goes without saying that you should not trust it.

Mbrowser.us virus might affect computers during installation of various free programs. After the hijack, it might set its domain as default search engine and homepage. To prevent users from switching back to the previous settings, it makes a few modifications in Registry and Windows shortcuts.

Judging from the appearance, Mbrowser.us looks legitimate. It also has a bonus feature – quick access to popular social networks, shopping and other sites. However, the most important feature of the search engine is a delivery of accurate results; and this tool fails here.

Instead of redirecting to Google or Yahoo search results page, the hijacker uses its database. In this way, authors of the search engine can modify the results and trigger redirects to partner’s websites. Indeed, this activity is unfair, but these Mbrowser.us redirect issues might pose a danger as well.[1]

In the search results page, users receive ads and organic links. However, clicking a web result may not lead you to the needed Internet site. You might be redirected to a third-party site that has nothing in common with your search query. Of course, it’s frustrating, but developers profit from the forced visits to sponsored websites.

Such redirects might be unsafe too. Cybercriminals often take advantage of these programs to reach potential victims. Therefore, the hijacker might reroute users to tech support scam, phishing or infected website. Thus, having this PUP installed, might lead to bigger problems than browsing-related issues. Undoubtedly Mbrowser.us removal is a must.

The best choice to remove Mbrowser.us from the PC is to employ anti-malware.[2] Automatic elimination ensures that all hijacker-related entries are eliminated. If you are not sure which security program to choose, take our advice and give Reimage a try.

Being cautions during free software installation helps to avoid the hijack

Mbrowser.us hijack is directly related to careless freeware installation. Thus, if you have recently installed a new program, it might be responsible for bringing the hijacker to your device. However, you should not blame the software. You may have avoided this situation if you have followed these rules:

  • Choose Advanced/Custom installation settings instead of Basic/Quick.
  • Read the information provided in each installation step.
  • Do not agree to install additional programs.
  • Do not leave marked confirmation to change your default search engine.

Security experts from the Netherlands[3] also stress out the necessity to choose reliable software download sources. Reading End-user license agreement and Privacy policy is also recommended.

If you read the article carefully, you are aware of the dangers that might be triggered by the hijacker. Thus, we are sure that you want to remove Mbrowser.us ASAP. For that, you have two options – manual and automatic elimination. The latter one requires obtaining an anti-malware.
