Mute All Tabs extension turns your browser into digital billboard

Mute All Tabs is a Google Chrome browser extension that has been categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP)[1] due to its negative features.
First of all, this program might enter the system with the kelp of third-party software. The installation of this add-on is also possible from the official site. However, it’s not recommended.
Secondly, after the installation, it might change Chrome’s default homepage and search engine to an unknown domain. To prevent users from switching to their preferred search provider, PUP might make system modifications and alter shortcuts.
Thirdly, Mute All Tabs delivers an excessive amount of commercial content. It provides pop-ups, in-texts, banners and other types of online ads. It may also initiate redirects to promotional sites.
Nevertheless, this program is presented as a useful tool that helps to mute all Chrome tabs; it’s actually designed to generate advertising-based revenue. Apart from causing annoyance when browsing the web, this program might also pose a danger to the computer. Thus, it’s better to remove Mute All Tabs from the browser.
We want to point out that adware itself is not dangerous. However, it’s delivered commercial content might be. The biggest concerns are related to Mute All Tabs redirect problems. This program might redirect to potentially dangerous or infected websites.
The problem is that developers of adware do not pay attention to credibility and safety of the promoted content. All they care of is users’ clicks. Each click on the ad or redirect to affiliate’s website generates advertising-based revenue.
Meanwhile, you might end up on the Internet site that has been created for spreading malware[2] or tricking you into revealing your personal information.
Thus, if you installed this add-on yourself, you should go to Chrome’s extensions and get rid of immediately. If it sneaked in a software bundle, you should scan the computer with FortectIntego and perform automatic Mute All Tabs removal.

Authors of the Mute All Tabs do not provide EULA and Privacy Policy
Mute tabs in one click website does not allow potential users to know terms and conditions and how developers treat users’ data. The lack of these documents makes this program suspicious and unreliable.
Usually, ad-supported programs are capable of tracking non-personally identifiable information. However, you cannot be sure whether this program might be willing to know your email address, passwords or other personal information.
What is worse, no one can assure that aggregated data won’t be shared with third-parties, advertising networks or even cyber criminals. Thus, to protect your privacy, you should not have this extension on your browser.
Browser add-on is promoted in software bundles
Mute All Tabs has an official website that offers to download it directly to Chrome. This extension is also available on Chrome store. However, developers also apply a sneaky bundling technique that allows getting into devices silently.
Bundling allows adding browser extension in the software package as an optional component. It might be included in various freeware and shareware. If users install such software incorrectly, this extension gets permission to enter as well.
Mute All Tabs hijack might occur when users install new programs under Quick/Recommended settings. We suggest keeping away from these settings because they usually do not openly disclose about third-party software. Thus, all additional programs are installed silently.
Meanwhile, Advanced/Custom settings reveal the list of third-party applications. By unticking these entries, users can avoid installation of the unwanted applications.
Deleting Mute All Tabs virus from Google Chrome
If you installed this extension yourself, it should be enough to uninstall from Chrome. Thus, open the list of extensions and remove Mute All Tabs as an ordinary add-on.
If it was installed without your knowledge, you should not only uninstall it from the browser but look up for other components too. Other PUPs might have also been installed silently. Thus, you have to get rid of them all.
