The basic facts you should know about the Perfecthosting.co virus

Perfecthosting.co virus is a technical support scam that imitates Microsoft Security Alerts in an attempt to trick the users into thinking their computers are at risk of being severely damaged due to malware infection. Interestingly enough, such notifications disappear as soon as the browser is closed. This is a major suggestion that the security alerts may be generated by malware. Please keep in mind that only your operating system can issue error warnings, BSOD, and computer security reports. Thus, messages coming from other sources should be ignored. Besides, no real “Microsoft Security Alerts” will urge you to contact technical support, but the fake ones will. In the case of Perfecthosting.co hijack, you will be persuaded to call 1-844-507-3556 to fix your computer. The scammers threaten that otherwise, your personal information such as bank details, credit card information, account passwords, etc., may be exposed to malicious third-parties. What also increases the necessity of the Perfecthosting.co removal is the fact that redirects to this fraudulent site are just a small part of the adware virus that is designed to embed these advertisements into the infected computer. In other words, Perfecthosting virus does not travel on its own and needs a carrier program to be able to run on the targeted device. Thus, it is useful to employ reputable and professional antivirus tools, such as Reimage, for instance, to locate this deceptive program.

What happens if the users do not remove Perfecthosting.co immediately and decide to call the suspicious tech support line instead? First of all, they definitely do not get in touch with any tech support technician, not to mention the representative from Microsoft. Instead, they are being exposed to the persuasive marketing specialists who promote security products and services which might be completely useless or cause even more trouble. As all the risks initially proclaimed in the fake pop-ups are small when the virus is ignored, but contacting the criminals can make them completely valid. Needless to say, you should avoid this by all means and better dedicate your time for the virus removal instead.

How was this browser hijacker brought to your computer?

“Brough” is probably the best term to describe the distribution strategies of the shady Perfecthosting.co ads. This lightweight program is not capable of infecting computers itself, so it inevitably needs the user’s permission (overt or covert one) to enter the system. Unfortunately, malware creators seem to know exactly how to obtain it. They use “bundling” to distribute Perfecthosting.co carrying adware together with popular applications PDF converters, video players, photo editors, etc. The installation of all the additional software included the software package is placed under settings which do not disclose these components and install everything in a single go. This is dangerous if such components are potentially infectious like Perfecthosting.co, for instance. Opting for the “Advanced” or “Custom” installation settings can prevent that from happening. This way, all the additional software that freeware, shareware applications may bring along will be clearly indicated and you will be able to stop it from installing manually.
