Search Module virus Removal Guide
What is Search Module virus?
The important information about Search Module virus
Search Module is a questionable search engine, which has also been labeled as a browser hijacker. It means that the PUP can easily hijack your system and then initiate various changes on it. Similarly to hundreds of other hijackers, Search Module virus has an ability to change your default homepage and a new tab. If you noticed that your homepage is replaced with Bing.com, you should be concerned. In addition, the hijacker also displays modified search results and might redirect to potentially dangerous websites. All in all, do not waste and initiate Search Module removal before it roots deeper into the system. You can employ FortectIntego to fully exterminate the malware.
The first thing which signals that your computer has been infected with a hijacker is Search Module redirect tendency. Any PUP of this kind is created for misleading users to third-party websites. You may often find yourself in gaming or pornographic website. Additionally, you might lose your temper after struggling to exit it, since clicking on the “exit” button generates more redirects. Besides their highly irritating behavior, they might cause serious consequences. Viruses and malware often use similar domains as a temporary shelter. Once curious users start surfing in such websites, it becomes a matter of time when viruses settle on their systems. Thus, keep your distance from the redirect links and quickly remove Search Module instead.

Furthermore, a browser hijacker, unlike a legitimate search engine, does not provide the same search results. For example, comparing the search results of Google and with the ones this hijacker provides, you might notice obvious differences. Several advertising websites are displayed in the initial positions while the web page you are looking for ranks only 5th or lower. Since the developers of Search Module browser hijacker are in need of external support, they use the services of advertising companies or anonymous third-parties. In exchange for the support, ad-filled websites are displayed. Additionally, you should be aware that the browser hijacker might also transfer your NPII (non-personal identifiable information), which includes search queries, IP address, browsing frequency, to the previously mentioned third parties. They use the data for creating interest-matching ads. All in all, such behavior should not be tolerated.
How can Search Module hijack my computer?
Search Module infiltrates a system using a very sneaky distribution method, which is called “bundling.” This technique allows pinning a browser hijacker to a popular free application. Since the majority of users ignore reading installation instructions, the hijacker gets installed along with the primarily downloaded application. In order to avoid Search Module, you should always choose “Custom” or “Advanced” mode when installing freeware from the web. In addition, uncheck all unwanted add-ons. Such sequence of action will help you to spot any potentially malicious program before it infiltrates the computer.
Search Module removal steps
Luckily, it is not difficult to get rid of the hijacker. Firstly, you may opt for manual removal. Note that in order to exterminate Search Module virus completely, you need to go through each step pf the guidelines carefully. Otherwise, one or more related files might be left behind which results in re-hijack by the malware. If the manual instructions are not convenient for you by any chance, then, remove Search Module automatically. Install an anti-spyware program and start a system scan. It detects the hijacker and its PUP files within a short period of time. The security program ensures that your computer is fully cleansed as well. Moreover, the software provides real-time protection.
