Remove Search.snapdo.com - updated Jan 2021
Search.snapdo.com – a browser hijacker that might disrupt your online activities
Search.snapdo.com is a search engine, which should be avoided just like another infamous browser hijacker called snap.do.
The main reason why it is not recommended to use this site when browsing on the Internet and searching for needed information is that it may show altered search results that may be filled with suspicious links leading people to suspicious websites.
Beware that this search engine may infiltrate your computer without appropriate permission asked and then may hijack each of your web browsers. The app takes over several popular web browsers, including:
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- MS Edge
- Internet Explorer, etc.
As soon as it takes over Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and other web browsers, it may alter the start page and/or the default search engine. After that, you may need to start dealing with annoying redirections, slowdowns, unwanted pop-up ads, and other annoying things.
Please, beware that these pop-up ads and redirects should never be ignored because scammers may use them for promoting their own websites and programs. However, theseSearch.snapdo.com redirections may also reroute you to a malicious website that may install a dangerous virus on your computer.
Besides, you may surprisingly find out that this search engine is tracking you. I
In fact, it's normal for such programs that are interested in people's search terms, mostly visited websites, data that they enter when visiting them, etc. If you have just discovered that Search.snapdo.com hijacked your start page, new tab page, and default search engine, you should never ignore that because it's a clear sign that your machine is infected with a browser hijacker.
In this case, you should remove this potentially unwanted program from the system ASAP. For that, we recommend using SpyHunter 5Combo Cleaner and then, to ensure that no system damage was sustained – ReimageIntego. Alternatively, you can follow the instructions we provide below.
PUPs use deception to access your PC without asking
As we have mentioned, Search.snapdo.com redirects may start bothering you out of nowhere. That's because this program is mostly promoted in a bundle with freeware and shareware. That's why you should always have updated anti-spyware in order to avoid this threat.
Of course, make sure you monitor the installation of the freeware by selecting the Custom or Advanced installation method. Once it attacks its target computer, this browser hijacker modifies some of the PC's parameters and affects Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox browsers. As a result, the victim finds himself/herself disabled from entering Google, Yahoo, or another typical search engine.
Also, he/she starts suffering from unwanted pop-up ads and similar things that interrupt browsing. Therefore, you should remove Search.snapdo.com virus from your browsers if it has shown up there without any permission asked. If you think that other PUPs may be inside your computer, you should remove them as well.
Remove Search.snapdo.com hijack
If you have just found unexpected browser changes on your computer, we recommend you to start Search.snapdo.com removal by checking the system with updated anti-malware. That's because it may be affected by other potentially unwanted programs as well. For that, use programs that are mentioned in the guide and delete all related files.
Of course, you can also follow manual instructions and get rid of this hijacker by yourself, regardless of which operating system you are using:
- macOS
- Windows
Keep in mind that web browsers are greatly affected by the hijackers, so it is important to remove Search.snapdo.com extension if such is present, and then clean cookies and other web data thoroughly.

VPN software providers like Private Internet Access can help you with such settings and offer the option to control the online reputation and manage projects easily from any part of the world.
Recover files after data-affecting malware attacks
While much of the data can be accidentally deleted due to various reasons, malware is one of the main culprits that can cause loss of pictures, documents, videos, and other important files. More serious malware infections lead to significant data loss when your documents, system files, and images get encrypted. In particular, ransomware is is a type of malware that focuses on such functions, so your files become useless without an ability to access them.
Even though there is little to no possibility to recover after file-locking threats, some applications have features for data recovery in the system. In some cases, Data Recovery Pro can also help to recover at least some portion of your data after data-locking virus infection or general cyber infection.

I also ran Hijack This and it found three entries for “feed.snap.do” which I removed. I also ran regedit and did same search and found three more entries for “feed.snap.do” which I deleted. I also blocked the site in Firefox. You can get the free version of HiJack This @ http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/ . After the two above steps is when I did all of the Browser Resets and it seems to have taken care of it. I did not have the snap program showing in my Program List to be able to uninstall.
