What should I know about Searchly.org virus?

Searchly.org virus is a questionable search engine that is supposed to protect user’s privacy. It’s quite ironic because this potentially unwanted program[1] might sneak inside the computer unnoticed and alter targeted browsers’ settings. Indeed, it aggressively forces to use this shady search service. Cyber security specialists agree that this program is nothing more than a browser hijacker.[2] Searchly.org browser hijacker might set its domain as the default homepage, search engine, and even new tab address. Hijackers are known as shady marketing tools; thus, they want to stay on the affected browser as long as possible in order to deliver sponsored content for the users. For this reason, this application might install helper objects or append arguments in various shortcuts to make hijacker’s removal slightly complicated. As a result, users often rely on security tools, such as Reimage, to deal with this issue. Indeed, automatic Searchly.org removal is the quickest, safest and the most efficient way to get rid of this unreliable search tool.

Nevertheless, this search engine looks like the ordinary one; it’s not worth relying on. We have briefly mentioned that it might be used as a marketing tool. Therefore, it might alter search results and deliver sponsored links instead of useful results. The biggest problem here is related to the Searchly.org redirect tendencies. Some search results and advertisements might hide malicious content.[3] As a result, after one click, you might be redirected to the harmful website, where you might get infected with malware[4] or suffer from online scam.[5] Despite the fact that this tool claims to protect your privacy, it says nothing about your online safety. Developers of this tool won’t take responsibility if your files would be encrypted or you purchase a bogus software. Therefore, it’s better to remove Searchly.org from the device and look for the more reliable search tools. We recommend using the ones that do not sneak inside unauthorized.

How could this search engine hijack my browser?

Searchly.org is promoted as a useful search tool in various software packages. Thus, it spreads along with programs that you can download from the online sources, such as file-sharing websites, P2P networks, torrents, etc. It’s important to choose reliable sources for downloads; however, it’s also essential to use the right installation settings. Sadly, many computer users still rely on Quick or Recommended setups. Bear in mind that the only safe and reliable method to install new application is Advanced/Custom settings. However, only choosing them is not enough. If you want to avoid Searchly.org hijack, you need carefully follow each step when using advanced installation wizard. One of the steps might include the list of third-party apps that are offered to you. Usually, they are unknown search engines, PC optimizers, antivirus programs or various browser extensions. However, you should not think too much and deselect all these entries. They often have more cons that pros. Thus, if you recently installed a new program and haven’t paid enough attention, Searchly.org virus took over your browser. However, now it’s a perfect time to remove it!
