What is SmartShopping.com?

SmartShopping.com is a website that was dedicated for shopping online. However, it seems that it is also closely related to annoying pop-up ads that have been interrupting PC users for a while. If such annoying messages have already started showing up on your computer’s desktop, you should think what freeware have you recently downloaded to your computer. If you see them, it’s a sign that you downloaded the related browser plugin, which has affected all of your web browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and others) and now has started causing these annoying pop-ups. Unfortunately, that’s not the only thing that can be related to these ads. Beware that they may also redirect you to unknown and unsafe websites that are actively trying to increase their page rank or visitors’ traffic. While you can’t be sure that each of such websites is totally safe, you should double think before clicking on Smart Shopping ads. Finally, you should keep in mind that browser add-ons may start tracking you and may collect such data as your mostly visited websites or details that you enter when visiting them.

To sum up, you should be very careful withSmartShopping.com ads that are mostly caused by such programs as PDF creators, download managers, video streaming software, video recording software and similar free applications that are actively promoted on the Internet. If you have been seeing SmartShopping.com pop-up ads and you think that they care annoying, you should get rid of them ASAP. For that you can use Reimage (compatible with Windows OS) or Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus (compatible with Windows OS and Mac OS X).

How can SmartShopping.com hijack my computer?

Just like we’ve already mentioned, SmartShopping.com pop-up ads are caused by a browser plugin, which spreads around in a bundle with freeware and shareware. In order to avoid it, you should stay away from such programs as 1ClickDownload, Superfish, Yontoo and FBPhotoZoom. Of course, there are hundreds of other freewares that have been used for promoting this service. That’s why you should start monitoring every installation process. If you believe that you need any of questionable programs that may have been filled with such optional components as adwares, browser hijackers and other PUPs, you should be especially careful when installing it on your computer. For that, we highly recommend choosing a Custom or Advanced installation of the freeware and then deselecting all checkboxes that say that you agree to download SmartShopping or other related browser add-ons. No matter that it’s not a virus, it can easily initiate havoc on your computer as the one that has already been described in this post.
