Virus Doctor is a fake security tool that tries to mimic Windows Defender interface to mislead users

Virus Doctor

Virus Doctor is another rogue anti-spyware application. Usually, this parasite is advertised by trojan viruses. They constantly load pop-up windows with fake information about system security risks. When a user tries to close those bothersome pop-up windows, he is automatically redirected to a fake online anti-spyware scan page.

The counterfeit online scan also states that the user's system has numerous security threats that have to be removed quickly. They suggest using VirusDoctor anti-spyware as a reliable and effective spyware removal tool. However, it is nothing but a scam that attempts to extort money from innocent users. Do not believe these claims; if you have installed this malicious program on your PC, check the details below to resolve this rather difficult situation quickly.

Name Virus Doctor
Type Malware, fake anti-spyware, rogue
Distribution Already installed Trojans on the system or fake online scanners on malicious websites
Risks Installation of other malicious programs, monetary losses, personal data leak
Elimination You can try deleting this program manually as we explain below but you are unlikely to succeed. Instead, perform a full system scan with security software
System fix If you noticed that your Windows system was damaged, fix it with an automatic solution FortectIntego

If users get tricked into installing this malicious rogue, they would almost immediately compromise their Windows device. Upon installation, the program is set to launch each time when Windows is booted, making its presence almost unavoidable.

Then it performs fast system scans without the user's permission and reports numerous infections. Some of the files that are “detected” are actually brought in by the rogue itself; for example, you could see the following detections:

  • rundllkey.drv
  • SM.exe
  • kernel32.tmp
  • ddv.exe, etc.

It will also use names of already known or completely fictitious parasite names. After the scan, the fake antispyware would show various alerts and claim that users' PC is badly infected. There are also “recommendations” to protect the system and remove all the found fake threats by purchasing a fake license for the software.

In the taskbar, users will also be able to see annoying pop-ups that would provide the following bogus information:

Warning! Access conflict detected!
An unidentified program is trying to access system process address space.
Process Name: AllowedForm
Location: C:\Windows\…\taskmgr.exe Warning! Identity theft attempt detected

Don't be gullible, and don't give in to this scam. A full version of this rogue won't help you to remove infections because the only infection that is present on the system is Virus Doctor itself and should be removed as soon as possible.

For that, you should download and install a real anti-malware solution, such as SpyHunterCombo Cleaner or MalwarebytesMalwarebytes, and perform a full system scan to eliminate the rogue for good. If you notice that your PC is crashing, delivering errors, or works much slower after you delete the infection, Windows system files were likely damaged. To remediate this, you should either reinstall Windows or use the FortectIntego repair tool to fix virus damage automatically.

Don't believe fake virus scanners

Online fraud has been around since the time that the internet became more popular worldwide. Crooks quickly realized that showing fake notifications to users on various sites can bring them many monetary benefits. Considering that the internet was a much less safe space back in the day, malicious sites could have been encountered everywhere.

While the situation drastically improved over the years thanks to various security implementations by tech giants like Google or Microsoft, these attacks became less prominent, although there is plenty of scams around the web to this day. Therefore, you should take all the precautionary measures to reduce the possibility of getting scammed online. Here are a few tips that could help you:

  • Always check the URL of the website your visit, even if it looks legitimate
  • A website is unable to scan your computer, so every webpage that claims it detected a “virus” or that your “credit card information is being stolen” is simply a scam
  • Do not try to download software cracks or pirated program installers
  • Install a robust anti-malware program with web protection feature that would warn you about online scams.

Virus Doctor removal instructions

Rogue antispyware commonly meddles with Windows in a very intrusive manner. These changes are meant to change the way the OS operates and prevent the removal. Due to this, many people might not know what to do and purchase the requested license, risking their security in the process.

Without a doubt, you should never waste money on this malicious software. If you have found it performing scans or delivering annoying warnings, you should remove Virus Doctor as soon as possible. While you can try doing so by following our guidelines below, we strongly recommend you scan your device with anti-malware for proper malware elimination.
