Webunstop.org displays ads after it installs on the computer as a legitimate VPN service

Webunstop.org virus is a deceptive website which supposedly offers free VPN (virtual private network) [1] services. VPNs are tools which were initially designed to ensure secure connections to public or private networks. Nevertheless, this technology is often used to access area-restricted websites. And Webunstop is offering its potential users just that. Service providers promise that setting up this program on the computer will allow to “enjoy safe and fast browsing experience.” Unfortunately, none of these promises should be taken for granted. In reality, the website is just another member of a rogue malware family which pretends to provide VPN services but actually seeks to generate its developers’ revenue from advertising. Don’t be deceived by the professional look of the website! You can find numerous websites with an identical design appearing under different URLs throughout the web. Nostopped.net and No-stops.net are just a few examples we have already discussed in our previous articles. When installed on the computer, all of them will work against, not for you. They will make you visit random websites to boost their traffic, accidentally click on unexpected pop-ups or banners, and lure you into some potentially dangerous domains where you could easily infect your PC with some sneaky cyber infection. Such behavior is exactly what adware viruses [2] tend to exhibit on the infected computers. Luckily, adware are lightweight parasites; thus they are not difficult to dispose of. All you should do is reset your browser, and the changes that this parasite may have implemented on your web engine will be rolled back automatically. Nevertheless, resetting the browser may not be enough to remove Webunstop.org from the computer completely. You may also need to scan the device for the malicious components with Reimage or similar antivirus software just to be sure the system is clean.

Webunstop.org virus

Webunstop.org hijack manifests not only through the extensive advertising you see while browsing the web but also the generally diminished web browsing capacities. Though Web Unstop creators claim to increase the browsing speed, it is more likely to slow down. The browser may start operating slower or crash entirely, eventually balancing out the entire system. Such behavior should be terminated immediately as it creates conditions for other malfunctions or security breaches to occur. Thus, we strongly recommend commencing with the Webunstop.org removal as soon as possible.

The legal way of malware infiltration

As we have pointed out previously Webunstop.org is an adware which determines its easy way of infiltrating the system. Since this type of malware cannot simply install itself, it aims to make users install it on their computers themselves, either purposefully or accidentally. Webunstop.org can arrive on the computer inside freeware and shareware packages. Technically, this bundling technique is legitimate, and the blame falls on the users who fail to opt out unwanted components during the software installation process. Please take note that new software installation should only be performed via the “Advanced” mode which will list and allow you to opt out undesirable components, preventing their further installation.

Webunstop.org elimination guide:

Apart from the annoying ads and redirects, Webunstop.org virus should not cause any serious trouble on the infected computer. Nevertheless, the longer it stays installed, the more chances there are that it will redirect you to some potentially dangerous domains. Thus, you should remove Webunstop.org virus without much delay. You should investigate your system with some professional malware detection tool and allow it to eliminate any suspicious components it finds on the system. After that, you should also perform Webunstop.org removal from the web browsers. We explain the process below.

You can remove Webunstop.org automatically with a help of one of these programs: Reimage, Plumbytes Anti-MalwareWebroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus, Malwarebytes Anti Malware. We recommend these applications because they can easily delete potentially unwanted programs and viruses with all their files and registry entries that are related to them.
