Yellowmoxie – a browsing tool that inserts ads into your searches

Yellowmoxie is a browser hijacker that you might find on your Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or another web browser seemingly out of nowhere. Alternatively, some users might install the app, believing that it has plenty of useful features to enhance their browsing experience.
While it is advertised as a download tool that allows users to access various videos and other multimedia content, it is a well-known fact that Yellowmoxie is considered a browser hijacker for several reasons. As soon as users let it into their machines, their homepage and new tab URL would be changed to yellowmoxie.com, which brings more than the alleged functions – these are mostly negative.
| Name | Yellowmoxie |
|---|---|
| Type | Browser hijacker, potentially unwanted program |
| Distribution | Software bundles, third-party freeware sites |
| Associated URLs | yellowmoxie.com |
| Dangers | Installation of other potentially unwanted programs, financial losses, privacy risks |
| Removal | You can uninstall potentially unwanted programs manually as per instructions below. For an automatic solution, use security software |
| Additional steps | Computer infections can cause significant damage to system files or disrupt normal settings. To revert these changes and remediate the OS, perform a full system scan with FortectIntego repair software |
The app may initiate annoying redirections to associated websites and similar issues. It may also show you unwanted pop-up advertisements that may be filled with affiliate links and similar content. After clicking them, you may be tricked into visiting unknown websites and unwanted domains, so you should stay away from Yellowmoxie redirects as much as you can.
Beware that this program may start causing its potentially-malicious activity on your computer out of nowhere. In fact, it is started once this search engine manages to get inside its target PC system. How it does that? Please check the next paragraph for getting more information about that and the methods that can be used for spreading it.
As soon as Yellowmoxie hijacks each of web browsers, this program may be set to initiate various system changes.
It may alter your start page, the default search engine and the new tab page without any permission asked. These changes are made on every web browser, which is installed on the system.
While you may think that you were redirected to a harmless website, note that such activity may trick you into visiting a misleading website, which is filled with misleading information. However, this is not the only reason for Yellowmoxie removal.
It is a known fact that PUPs gather various information about users who have such apps installed on their systems. Such data includes, but is not limited to:
- Approximate location
- IP address
- Internet Service Provider
- Technical device data
- Search terms
- Visited websites and links clicked, etc.
If you want to avoid ending up with the installation of other potentially unwanted programs, you should remove Yellowmoxie from your computer. The easiest way to do that is by scanning your computer with updated anti-spyware. We recommend using FortectIntego or other reputable anti-spyware.
Potentially unwanted apps are usually installed unintentionally – here's why
If you are dealing with the Yellowmoxie virus that keeps redirecting you to unknown websites, there is a huge chance that your PC has been hijacked. This is done using a suspicious distribution method, which is called bundling. If you want to prevent it, you should know that the app is actively promoted using freeware and shareware as an optional component.
So, if you want to avoid this redirect virus, you should start checking what free programs you are downloading to your computer. Please, read what is said in the program's privacy policy, end user's license agreement, and similar sources of information. Also, select the Custom or Advanced installation option and then pay attention to every installation step. You should uncheck all suspicious check marks that are typically pre-checked by developers of the freeware.
You should never agree with the installation of unknown browser add-ons, extensions, and plugins. Besides, you shouldn't agree to change your start page or default search engine to unknown websites. If a PUP gets inside the system, this hijacker may modify some of the PC's parameters and may start redirecting its victim to Yellowmoxie.com and other sites while browsing on the web. Please, do not ignore these redirections because they may reroute you to a malicious website used to promote malware.
Yellowmoxie elimination process
Without a doubt, browser hijackers are not as malicious as trojans, ransomware, or other similar threats. Nevertheless, their presence should never be ignored (hence Yellowmoxie removal should be performed), as it can cause various browsing-related issues, for example:
- hinder the ability to find relevant information;
- point to ads that might promote suspicious software;
- track data and later share it with third-parties, etc.
Therefore, you should remove Yellowmoxie from your machine as soon as possible. You can use the manual elimination guide we provide below, although experts also advise scanning the computer with anti-malware software thoroughly. This would ensure that invisible threats are also detected and deleted at once.
