Spyware Protect 2009 is a rogue anti-spyware application - fake spyware remover. Usually users infect their systems with this rogue via Vundo or similar type trojans and viruses. SpywareProtect 2009 is configurated to start automatically when system boots. After that, this rogue launches pop-up windows to alert user about fake system infections and security risks. We can even call those alerts standart, because they are very similar to other fake anti-spyware software alerts. Also with alert windows comes officious sound that can be very pesky and overall creates very noisy environment. So, everything is done to scare user into purchasing full version of this rogue, because it is the only way to remove all the infections as they claim. Malware Bytes is actually great software, but this is one of those malwares that is "smart" and knows that you're trying to run a removal tool, and it keeps it from ever opening. I recommend also using SDFix and Combofix to clean this type of infection.

I didn't have the processes running, but there were registry values for all but one of them. Additionally, there was salrtybek, so it's probably a process to kill as well.

I had this malware but none of those processes or registry entries appeared on my computer. Both the process and registry entry were called 'sysguard.exe' once every reference to that was removed from the registry and the file folder manually deleted it was gone.

I also found an entry in the HOSTS file for 195.245.119.131 browser-security.microsoft.com, this needs to be removed.
It hooks into IE so you need to unregister the DLL and remove the registry key
