Onion3Cry ransomware uses HiddenTear's code to extort computer users

Onion3Cry ransomware is a HiddenTear-based[1] computer virus that attempts to prevent the victim from reaching files stored on a computer. Once installed, it damages the victim’s files and adds the .onion3cry-open-DECRYPTMYFILES extension to their file names. Finally, the virus displays a lock screen called onion3 crypt v.3 that says all files were encrypted.
To recover corrupted data, the virus suggests writing to onion33544@india.com. Also, the malicious program urges to write to the provided email within 12 hours otherwise all data will be lost for good.
Onion3Cry virus suggests buying a “Black decryptor,” a tool that is supposed to restore all encrypted data for the victim. However, we do not recommend buying this tool no matter what. First of all, technical details suggest that the virus is a poorly coded computer program and that could mean that the decrypter might be buggy as well. As a result, you might not recover your files at all.
Researchers suggest that this malicious program spreads in the form of a fake Portuguese updater[2] which displays the following message while encrypting all files in the background:
Obtendo atualizações
isso pode levar
alguns minutos
Verificando se ha atualizações …..
If such a message appeared on your screen, shut down your computer as soon as possible and disable any Internet connections available. This way, you might succeed to prevent the ransomware from corrupting your data. Finally, remove the Onion3Cry virus using the instructions we provided.
Although the virus removal should not be complicated since it is not the most dangerous ransomware virus available, you should still take it seriously. Please use up-to-date and reliable anti-spyware software. We recommend choosing SpyHunterCombo Cleaner, MalwarebytesMalwarebytes although the choice is yours.

Distribution of deceptive malware
Malware can arrive at your computer right after opening a fraudulent email attachment, so you have to inspect each virtual message you receive carefully. Udenvirus.dk says[3] that nowadays, criminals can deceive unsuspecting victims by spoofing email addresses, using official logos, and composing convincing messages that claim the attached file is an invoice, bill, or subpoena.
Besides, scammers can bundle such malicious software alongside illegal programs you can download from illegal websites. To put it differently, we do not recommend you to try to download software cracks, keygens, and similar programs meant to install licensed versions of legitimate software illegally.
Users seeking free full-version software are the primary targets for cybercriminals. They can fill such software bundles with malicious components and trick the victim into installing them alongside the illegal software-cracking programs.
