Arfanbajt.xyz ads can result in malware infection

Not all websites are created for the purpose of being informative or even useful. Crooks make sites to either steal personal information or benefit from ads or malicious software. Arfanbajt.xyz is one of the websites that was created by unfair individuals who want to earn quick money from ads, all while harming users in the process.
In this case, we are talking about push notifications that show up on users' screens regardless of which website they have opened on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, MS Edge, or any other browser. The pop-ups also show up on top of all the other apps, so it might make the operation of the computer really annoying. Note that this activity can be present on Windows or Mac operating systems, as well as mobile devices.
Initially, users would not subscribe to Arfanbajt.xyz push notifications intentionally – they are tricked into doing so in one of the following ways:
- They believe that they can receive valuable information from what looks to be a website specializing in sports news;
- They are shown a deceiving message which prompts them to accept the notifications;
- They click the “Allow” button within the notification prompt by accident.
In the end, it does not really matter which scenario you found yourself in, as the result is always the same – you might see ads coming to your screen at random times, and you can't do anything about it. It is vital not to click on any links that are promoted by the website, as it might result in malware infections, data leak, or other negative consequences. Instead, you should immediately stop this activity – we explain in detail how to do that below.
| Name | Arfanbajt.xyz |
| Type | Push notifications, ads, scam |
| Distribution | Desktop notifications start showing up in particular time intervals after clicking on the “Allow” button upon the site entry |
| Symptoms | Notifications show up at the bottom-right corner of the screen – these include fraudulent content and links to potentially dangerous websites |
| Dangers | If you click on links provided by the website, you might end up infecting your system with malware/PUPs, disclosing your personal information to cybercriminals, or losing money for useless services |
| Removal | To stop the intrusive pop-ups, you need to access the settings section of your browser. You should also check your system with antimalware software to eliminate adware and malware |
| Additional checks | To ensure that no malware or adware is present on the machine, you should scan the device with MalwarebytesMalwarebytes software that could delete all unwanted programs and files. In case the security software flagged anything suspicious, we also recommend fixing virus damage with tools such as FortectIntego |
Adware infection can be problematic
As evident, users don't roam through various malicious websites on purpose (although websites that distribute pirated programs are very much visited intentionally, despite security experts' warning about malware threats) but are rather redirected from another website. This usually happens through clicks on links, although it can also be a result of scrips forwarding users automatically.
The best thing to do to reduce the risk of dangerous redirects is to avoid visiting potentially dangerous websites – gambling, torrents, free streaming, etc. This activity can not be avoided completely, although security tools and ad-blockers can be a great help when trying to stay secure online.
Unfortunately, browser redirects can also be a symptom of adware[1] or malware infection. Most of the time, users are not even aware that they could be infected due to deceptive distribution practices that are used. For example, one can download useless or even malicious programs after being told that a Flash Player update[2] needs to be conducted in order to view the contents of the website, which is absolutely not true.
Besides the shady distribution, adware is designed to feed ads to users, and because of this, they might more frequently be exposed to pop-ups, banners, redirects, coupons, and other commercial content. Advertising networks used by adware might not be safe, so encountering malicious ads and redirects becomes more common.

In some cases, even trusted apps can go rogue abruptly, so sometimes, it is difficult to know which program is responsible for suspicious browser behavior. For this reason, we recommend not only checking for unwanted extensions or programs installed on the system but also scan the device with SpyHunterCombo Cleaner, MalwarebytesMalwarebytes, or another reputable security software.
After scanning your computer, we also strongly recommend deleting the web browser cache, cookies, and other data. This can improve your privacy and sometimes even aid the removal process of adware/malware. You can follow the instructions at the bottom of this post or perform an automatic fix with FortectIntego.
How to get rid of Arfanbajt.xyz ads?
Many users cannot understand that the push notifications are coming from the browser – the pop-up window looks like something is coming from the system. It also is not triggered by some precise website entry and can show up at random times. Finally, most users are convinced by the scam that pressing the “Allow” button within the prompt is something completely different than it actually is.
For example, the website can tell you that you need to allow notifications in order to leave it, download a file, or view a video. None of these statements are true, and the only purpose of sites like Arfanbajt.xyz, Thecarriedand.xyz, or Smartcaptchasolve.top is to convince users to press that “Allow” button so that users could be used as a tool for pay-per-click[3] monetization. Unfortunately, these ads can also lead users to malware-laden websites and also include fake information about prize claims, computer health, and much more.
Thus, do not click on these ads and stop the intrusive pop-ups from being shown. You can do that through your web browser settings as follows:
Google Chrome
- Select Menu > Settings > Advanced.
- Click on Site Settings > Notifications.
- Check the Allow section and find the address of the site.
- Select More Actions and pick Block.

- Toggle the switch to the left to turn notifications off on Microsoft Edge.

Safari
- Click on Safari > Preferences…
- Go to the Websites tab and, under General, select Notifications.
- Select the web address in question, click the drop-down menu and select Deny.

Extra tip: stop the intrusive push notification requests
Push notifications are not malicious and can be used as a feature by any website. In fact, you have probably seen many notifications prompts after accessing a website for the first time – most of them use it. Indeed, they can be useful if you are receiving information that is useful to you. This is why it is important to only subscribe to notifications from websites you trust.
On the other hand, it turned out that many users are not fond of the feature in the first place – most simply hit Block immediately or close down the prompt. If you are one of such people and don't like to be bothered, you could make the notification prompt less intrusive or turn it off completely. Here's how:
- Open Google Chrome
- Go to Menu > Settings
- Scroll down to the Privacy and security section
- Select Site Settings
- Scroll down again and pick Notifications
- Select Use quieter messaging option.
If you want to completely remove push notification prompts, use the Don't allow sites to show notifications option instead.
