Hhyu file virus is the most dangerous threat because it involves money extortion

Hhyu ransomware

Hhyu ransomware is one of the 500 versions in the same virus family that spreads quickly using cracks and licensed software versions distributed via pirating platforms and torrent pages. The infection can use other methods like spam email messages and attachments with malicious macros.

Hhyu file virus can affect various files once it is on the machine. People find files to get locked and encrypted once they get greeted with instructions for paying a sum which should help with complete file recovery. The infection focuses primarily on common data, so victims will see an alert demanding payment of bitcoin on the desktop and other folders.

Criminals are demanding $490 worth of Bitcoin right away, or else people risk losing personal files. The message gets written in the _readme.txt file. If someone pays this much money within 72 hours after receiving an informing email from the creators, then they will be given access to decryption tools, but these promises are completely false.

What is this ransomware?

Hhyu ransomware virus can detect what type of files you have on your PC and which ones are more used, hence valuable. It will place a note telling users how to contact criminals and not lose all their data- but after following these steps, everything may become inaccessible nevertheless.

Criminals will say anything to get you into their malware. These messages claim test decryption or give instructions on how it can be done, but don't believe any of them! Delete the Hhyu file virus and do so immediately because criminals want nothing more than money.

Virus developers are hackers pushing the boundaries of cybercrime with their latest tricks, and one that has become particularly popular in recent months is double extortion.[1] This allows them to make money no matter if you pay upfront or get extorted later on without paying what was originally demanded.

The removal procedure of the virus

Hhyu file virus is tricky to eliminate because it's not as an easy-to-removal program as any other browser-based PUP. However, with proper tools, you have the power to get rid of or block any malware from reappearing on your computer.
It should be noted that experts[2] do not recommend paying people who developed this infection. Instead, they say it's best if the virus is removed as soon as possible.

Repair Run FortectIntego to repair damaged files on the system

The Hhyu virus is from the family that releases new versions weekly and in bunches, and these versions are not much altered, so can come twice a week. That also means that there are no tools for the latest version decryption or recovery. The best option at this point is to remove the virus fully.

The particular help that can be provided by the anti-malware tools is the best. You can run SpyHunterCombo Cleaner, MalwarebytesMalwarebytes or other infection detection[3] tools and remove the Hhyu ransomware virus. These full system scans help to locate and terminate all infection files and related malware.

Recovering the machine

Hhyu ransomware infection can alter the Windows registry database, damage vital bootup and other sections, delete or corrupt DLL files, etc. Once a system file is damaged by malware, antivirus software is not capable of doing anything about it, leaving it just the way it is. Consequently, users might experience performance, stability, and usability issues, to the point where a full Windows reinstall is required.

Therefore, we highly recommend using a one-of-a-kind, patented technology of FortectIntego repair. Not only can it fix virus damage after the infection, but it is also capable of removing malware that has already broken into the system thanks to several engines used by the program. Besides, the application is also capable of fixing various Windows-related issues that are not caused by malware infections, for example, Blue Screen errors, freezes, registry errors, damaged DLLs, etc.

  • Download the application by clicking on the link above
  • Click on the ReimageRepair.exe
    Reimage download
  • If User Account Control (UAC) shows up, select Yes
  • Press Install and wait till the program finishes the installation processReimage installation
  • The analysis of your machine will begin immediately
  • Once complete, check the results – they will be listed in the Summary
  • You can now click on each of the issues and fix them manually
  • If you see many problems that you find difficult to fix, we recommend you purchase the license and fix them automatically.Reimage results

Encryption option for some versions

Hhyu ransomware needs to be removed before any of the file recovery options get used. If you allow backup copies of those affected files on the machine, those can be encrypted yet again, and you lose those files, unfortunately. There are alternate options and software sometimes.

There are many different types of encryption, but one thing ransomware all have in common is the need for an algorithms-based key. Even if you don't know what your particular infection used – the process is a major thing. The encryption procedure uses keys needed for file locking.

The Hhyu file virus is one of the newer versions in the family, so these variants rely on online IDs that allow the unique key to get formed for each affected device. If not connected to the C&C server properly, the offline id gets used. This one allows decryption options to be possible.

If your computer got infected with one of the Djvu variants, you should try using Emsisoft decryptor for Djvu/STOP. It is important to mention that this tool will not work for everyone – it only works if data was locked with an offline ID due to malware failing to communicate with its remote servers.

Even if your case meets this condition, somebody from the victims has to pay criminals, retrieve an offline key, and then share it with security researchers at Emsisoft. As a result, you might not be able to restore the encrypted files immediately. Thus, if the decryptor says your data was locked with an offline ID but cannot be recovered currently, you should try later. You also need to upload a set of files – one encrypted and a healthy one to the company's servers before you proceed.

  • Download the app from the official Emsisoft website.
  • After pressing Download button, a small pop-up at the bottom, titled decrypt_STOPDjvu.exe should show up – click it.
  • If User Account Control (UAC) message shows up, press Yes.
  • Agree to License Terms by pressing Yes.

  • After Disclaimer shows up, press OK.
  • The tool should automatically populate the affected folders, although you can also do it by pressing Add folder at the bottom.
  • Press Decrypt.

From here, there are three available outcomes:

  1. Decrypted!” will be shown under files that were decrypted successfully – they are now usable again.
  2. Error: Unable to decrypt file with ID:” means that the keys for this version of the virus have not yet been retrieved, so you should try later.
  3. This ID appears to be an online ID, decryption is impossible” – you are unable to decrypt files with this tool.
