What is scanner.ini?

scanner.ini is a configuration file used to store essential settings of some parasite components. Usually these settings describe standard threat behavior, its functionality and additional features. Deleting such file may help to stop a parasite or disable some of its functions.
The scanner.ini file is installed and used by trojan GT-VirtualSlut.
Sometimes a presence of scanner.ini does not indicate that your computer is infected. It can be an essential system file or a file installed by harmless legitimate software and therefore may not pose any threat to your privacy and the system. Although such cases are quite rare, you should thoroughly examine scanner.ini before completely deleting or leaving it in the system.
