DigiSmirkz Toolbar (Improved Instructions) - Free Guide
DigiSmirkz Toolbar Removal Guide
What is DigiSmirkz Toolbar?
Can I use DigiSmirkz Toolbar and its search engine without worries?
After discovering DigiSmirkz Toolbar in their browsers, many computer users start thinking that their PCs got infected with some kind of DigiSmirkz virus, however, that is not true. However, despite being a legitimate program, DigiSmirkz Toolbar belongs to potentially unwanted programs[1] category because of its suspicious behavior on the system. It advertises itself as a great addition to one’s browser that allows to add emoticons[2] to emails, blog posts, and access hundreds of smiley logos and other “entertaining” content. However, remember that the majority of free applications that have anything to do with “smileys” appear to be annoying[3] and ad-supported. Once installed, it inserts a browser extension[4] called “DigiSmirkz” to all compatible browsers. What caught our eye was the list of this extensions’ permissions. It turns out that it gains access to read and change data on sites that the victim visits, also one’s browsing history, downloads, themes, extensions, and apps.

In addition, when users hear a word “toolbar”, they think of additional browser menu buttons that add extra features and enhance the browsing experience. Sadly, in the case of DigiSmirkz, users tend to complain about it instead of praising it. We believe that users do not like the fact that this vague toolbar switches user’s homepage and new tab page URLs with a customized version of hp.myway.com, a site that contains a web search engine. We have to mention that MyWay search results delivered by this search tool can be slightly modified and include sponsored links, which might not necessarily link to secure Internet websites. Keep in mind that their privacy policies can be suspicious, so we suggest reading them first before exploring contents of such unknown Internet sites. If you care about your browser’s security, we suggest you remove DigiSmirkz Toolbar from PC without a hesitation. In our opinion, you should opt for a different search site such as Google.
How could I install programs I know nothing about?
Potentially unwanted programs can easily install themselves on the computer system if the victim fails to control installation process properly. When installing a program, we suggest opting for Custom or Advanced options[5] because these will reveal a full list of programs bundled with your download. You have to deselect them – typically, these programs are hardly useful and very annoying due to their ability to deliver third-party ads. If you choose pre-selected installation modes such as Default or Standard, you automatically permit extra programs to enter your PC system.
Recently, the developer of this program contacted us asking us to remove this post from 2-spyware.com website. We believe that we shouldn’t do that as long as programs that we offer for the removal of DigiSmirkz Toolbar can detect it and help users to remove it from the system. As it is mentioned under each of download buttons, we ARE affiliated with these anti-malware programs, and while some of them are free, others can remove a virus only after purchasing them. These mentions fully fulfill each of the requirements of FTC.
Nevertheless, we have recently decided to make a revision of this and other posts that are related to this developer. We claim that all of them are described properly.
