Eblaster – a keylogging application that can be used for malicious purposes

Eblaster is a program designed for spying activities on a Windows computer. While initially, keyloggers can be used legitimately, malicious actors often misuse these apps for their own benefit and install them on users' PCs without permission. By using it, cybercriminals can use it to collect sensitive user data, such as emails, phone numbers, passwords, and other details, which could lead to disastrous consequences.
The program was discontinued in 2018, so it is no longer available to obtain from legitimate sources. However, hackers can still employ it for malicious purposes when installing it illegally on victims' devices.
| Name | Eblaster |
| Type | Keylogger, spyware |
| Dangers | Personal information disclosure to cybercriminals, financial loss, identity theft/fraud, targeted scam campaigns |
| Symptoms | If installed illegally, keyloggers do not show any signs or symptoms and perform malicious spying activities in the background |
| Elimination | Use security software to delete malware from Windows properly |
| Further steps | Clean your web browsers automatically with FortectIntego and change all your passwords |
Keyloggers provide those who spy on users with a user interface. From that panel, the attackers can control various settings of the program and access the stolen information. It can record the following data:
- emails
- chats
- visited websites
- keystrokes
- instant messages, etc.
While some more advanced keyloggers can provide this data in real-time, Eblaster compiles all the harvested information into an email and sends it to the attacker. Luckily, this program is not capable of taking screenshots and is not compatible with several platforms (for example, iOS).
It goes without saying the hackers can misuse the information in various ways; for example, they can use data to attack the already infected user with targeted phishing or scam campaigns or even gain access to their credit card/banking details.
You should not delay and remove malware from your system as soon as possible. Unfortunately, you will not be able to see the app installed on your device. Instead, equip a powerful antivirus software, such as SpyHunterCombo Cleaner, and perform a full system scan. If you notice that your device is showing errors or is crashing after the removal process, employ FortectIntego to fix virus damage automatically.
Avoidance and elimination
Keyloggers can be installed and used legitimately, most commonly to regular the work of employees within a corporate environment, although other uses are also common. We are not discussing legitimate uses of this program and only refer to the side when used by cybercriminals/hackers.
As evident, to install this app on users' machines without their permission, the attackers need to use illegal distribution tactics. These could vary depending on cybercriminals' preferences and abilities, e.g., victims could get infected after downloading a repacked software package on a high-risk site or after being tricked by a fake update prompt.
Therefore, in order to protect yourself from malicious software infiltration, you should start from basics – equip your PC with anti-malware software and never ignore its warnings. Also, avoid visiting websites that distribute software cracks and also install the latest security updates for Windows and all the installed programs.
To remove malicious programs from your system, you should perform a scan with security software immediately. If you are unable to do so, you should access Safe Mode, as explained below. However, we recommend not proceeding with manual malware elimination steps as the infection may return, or Windows components might be accidentally damaged.
