Why does my Internet browser redirect me to Search.searchemonl.com?

Search.searchemonl.com virus is a pesky browser hijacker, and if it managed to enter your computer system, you will have to take certain actions to eliminate it. Although the first impression of Search.searchemonl.com browser hijacker doesn’t raise suspicion, you shouldn’t rely on it. The described hijacker is a potentially unwanted program (PUP), and it is meant to use your computer as a tool to generate pay-per-click revenue[1]. Therefore, as soon as it gets installed on the system, it find all web browsers installed on it and alters their settings to set Search.searchemonl.com as the new homepage address[2]. Consequently, infected Internet browsers launch this page every time the user opens them. The search engine provides a tray of shortcuts above it, including Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, Hotmail, Maps, News, and Facebook. Let us inform you that the News button hides news.mynewswire.co link, which is directly related to search.mynewswire.com browser hijacker. This and Search.searchemonl.com redirect virus are developed by SaferBrowser, a company that produces dozens of suspicious browser-hijacking[3] programs every month. If you still haven’t started contemplating whether you should remove Search.searchemonl.com hijacker or not, let us provide you with more facts.

Search.searchemonl.com hijack changes your browser settings without your knowledge, but do you know why it does that? It simply wants to convince you to use the described search engine, which, unfortunately, is not a trustworthy one. It produces Yahoo search results modified by SaferBrowser, and it means there are numerous sponsored links. If you are looking for certain information, you definitely want to get search results leading to useful information. However, clicking on search results brought by the described search engine can simply redirect you to affiliate websites that might be dangerous. Keep in mind that this browser redirect virus also tracks your search and browsing history to deliver targeted search results[4], so better resist the urge to click on interesting-looking search results because they might simply be a bait to lure you into visiting third-party sites. In case you have decided to take care of Search.searchemonl.com removal, use anti-spyware program like Reimage or use instructions given below.

How can I protect myself from browser hijackers?

Browser hijackers travel together with other free programs – it is the easiest way to trick unsuspecting victims into installing them. To deceive computer users in a legitimate way, developers of browser hijackers/adware collaborate with developers of well-known freeware, and ask them to bundle the junkware with well-known programs. As a result, you will download a program that looks like an individual piece of software, however, its installer most likely will provide information about the bundled software. However, not in a direct way. Therefore, you need to find these statements and modify installation settings in order to prevent installation of bundled programs. You can alter these settings via Custom/Advanced installation option. Please, stay away from Default/Standard options!
