Uclaut.net – a part of legitimate advertising service, but is often abused by adware authors

Uclaut.net is a part of Ad.fly campaign that helps website developers to monetize on ad revenue. However, as it is common with many such platforms, they are often associated with adware.[1] Once the potentially unwanted program gets into the system (usually using deceptive distribution techniques like software bundling), it starts initiating pop-up ads, banners, blinking windows, in-text links, and other intrusive commercial content on Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox or Opera browsers. What is more, Uclaut.net ads can affect multiple platforms, including Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, so the infection rate is quite broad. Nevertheless, Uclaut.net redirects can also be caused by ads on certain websites, and thus, if you encountered such site once, you should not be worried too much. Problems start when users get persistent redirects, ads, banners, deals, and other intrusive content that consequently can result in much more severe computer infections or sensitive data leak.

Adware, such as the one related to Uclaut.net redirect virus, is not that dangerous on its own, as it does not directly affect the system files as malware does. However, the main danger of potentially unwanted programs lies within their capabilities of exposing users to unsafe content online. That includes survey or tech support scams,[2] spoofed websites seeking login credentials, dangerous malvertising ads, etc.
For that reason, Uclaut.net removal should be performed as soon as you notice any sort of suspicious behavior, such as:
- Redirects to suspicious websites;
- Ad injection into legitimate sites that otherwise are ad-free;
- Installation of new bookmarks without permission;
- Installation of browser extensions without notice;
- Changes to homepage, new tab URL and search engine;
- Slow response time of the browser, etc.
Depending on the level of aggressiveness, Uclaut.net virus can produce more severe symptoms, such as system crashes, or background installations. Such malware-like behavior is extremely dangerous, as many processes are happening behind users' back.
To remove Uclaut.net entirely, you can employ a security application that is capable of detecting not only malware but also potentially unwanted programs. Alternatively, you can look for suspicious entries yourself based on our manual instructions below. However, it might be a complicated task, as some adware programs can be disguised pretty well.
After you complete the elimination, experts recommend scanning your device with FortectIntego in order to fully recover from the infection.

Bundled software often hides optional components prompting users to opt for Recommended installation settings
Potentially unwanted programs are called so for a reason – they are generally not desirable on one's system. In some cases, adware applications, for example, are often pretending to be useful by including such functionality as PDF file conversion, installation managing, driver updating,[3] and similar. However, these features are often very poor quality and are accompanied by an array of intrusive and even dangerous behavior: ads and redirects can expose to a malicious website, resulting in money or data loss, as well as malware infections.
However, adware apps are usually installed together with freeware programs downloaded from the internet. Remember, there is no such thing as free software – the developers have to monetize is some way. While monetizing using ads is fine, doing so by exposing users to online threats is not.
Thus, be vigilant when you install free applications from ALL sources. Do not rush through the installation steps, check Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, and always opt for Advanced installation mode, despite the recommendations from the developers. In this way, you will be able to remove all the optional components which would otherwise be installed when using Recommended mode.

To remove Uclaut.net virus, you can either use our manual instructions below or employ reputable security application that can detect and eliminate the threat. The former method does not require you to install any apps on your device, although it will also not help you prevent such-like infections in the future.
If you opt for automatic Uclaut.net removal, you will be able to terminate the potentially unwanted program in just a few minutes, without much effort. Besides, this method benefits anyone who is not that familiar with computer operation.
Once you complete Uclaut.net termination, you should also reset all your installed browsers, as it could have made changes to them, and might keep redirecting you to suspicious domains. Simply follow our guide below.
