Rplnd50.com is a fake website made to scam users into subscribing to push notifications

One day, you might log onto your desktop to find Rplnd50.com pop-up ads appearing on your screen – even if you haven't been visiting that site or using your web browser at all. While this might look like a sure sign of a virus infection, that's not necessarily the case here. The truth is that you must have allowed the notifications to be shown from this site, even though you may not remember it – this is because crooks use various phishing[1] techniques to trick people.
What are push notifications, and how do scammers use them?
The push notification feature was first introduced on desktop browsers back in 2015,[2] with Google Chrome first starting with the implementation of a way to allow users receive information from websites directly on their screens, in real-time. Since then, most websites now ask people whether or not they would like to enable them, as it increases overall traffic and also allows users to receive the latest information as soon as possible whenever it's released.
Unfortunately, scammers soon realized that push notifications could be used in malicious ways, and websites like Rplnd50.com, Mostongou.com, News-bidoma.cc, Bguhnh.com, and many others, started to show up. Unlike your typical sites, these have no content in them whatsoever and instead show misleading messages and pictures to visitors.
The main goal is to confuse users and make them click the “Allow” button within the notification prompt that they see upon entry. One website could use several different fake messages, varying between users. Here are a few examples:
- Click Allow if you are not a robot
- If you are 18+, tap Allow
- Please tap Allow button to continue
- Click “Allow” to win a prize and get it in our shop!
- To access the video, click “Allow”
These messages are always accompanied by a picture that represents the statement; for example, the “Click Allow if you are not a robot” one would always show some type of robot picture, or “To access the video, click Allow” would show a fake media player, usually looking like YouTube one.
You should never trust these messages, as Rplnd50.com or any other scam website would never provide anything they promise. Instead, you'd be rerouted to another malicious website, where you could be tricked into doing things you otherwise wouldn't. If you were tricked and enabled notifications from a fake website, you should simply block the access by entering browser settings – we explain how to do that below.

Take care of adware and other infections
Although Rplnd50.com ads are not immediately the result of adware or malware, those affected by these programs may be more likely to see scams and phishing messages while browsing the internet. In addition, adware generally overwhelms users with various types of advertisements, such as pop-ups, deals, banners, in-text links, etc. If you see any of these red flags, take action and scan your computer for viruses right away.
The simplest way to clean your device from adware is by scanning it with SpyHunterCombo Cleaner, MalwarebytesMalwarebytes, or other effective security software. Anti-malware can eliminate all the unwanted and malicious programs from your device.
