Venuedurin.xyz spams people with pop-up ads instead of providing valuable content

Venuedurin.xyz makes users think that when they will click the “Allow” button they will start receiving the latest sports updates from around the world. In reality, they start getting spammed with annoying pop-up ads that may even lead to danger. Scam sites like fake software updates, giveaways, surveys are often advertised using social engineering techniques that fool less IT-savvy people.

The site is also most likely generated, because there are hundreds that look exactly the same, like Gcouncerne.xyz, Ngmansucc.xyz, and Ucationininanceen.xyz. Also, the site is displaying conflicting information. One text says that users will receive sports updates, and the other one says that they will receive movie updates. This is already a red flag that you should pay attention to when browsing the Internet.

Distribution techniques

Unfortunately, push notification spam is mostly caused by users themselves. Because they are based on a subscription model, only they can request them. This happens because people rush, do not read the prompts or do not understand what they are saying, browse through shady pages. Websites like Venuedurin.xyz are promoted on web pages that most likely engage in illegal activities, like illegal streaming platforms.

Because they are unregulated, they are full of deceptive ads, and sneaky redirects. “Download” and “Play” buttons, often open new tabs with advertisements in them. Some people might think that they have to click the button to be able to watch a movie or TV show. You should never trust sites that randomly open out of nowhere. If you actually want to get push notifications about sports news, look for a legitimate, well-known website that can be trusted.

Of course, the appearance of this page could also have been caused by a PUP,[1] like adware. This software hides in the system and performs various tasks without the users' knowledge. If you have it on your PC, you might experience symptoms like an increased amount of commercial content, pop-ups, banners, surveys, redirects, etc. This way, the program generates revenue[2] for the developers without you even suspecting it.

Clear cookies and cache

Cookies are small text files that a website can store on your browser. The main purpose of a cookie is to identify users, save site login details or customize web pages according to the individual’s preferences. Most websites will install cookies as a way of developing a profile for a person. The cookies will track each time a user visits a site, what they search for, what they buy, and more.

Unfortunately, not all websites can be trusted with data gathering. If you browse a lot, you most likely accept the usage of cookies on many websites. You should consider deleting cookies on your browsers because they pose a security threat. There have been instances where threat actors hijack cookies and gain access to browser sessions to steal personal data.

Cookies can also slow down your device over time as you accumulate many of them. Most importantly, they store your personal information. Cookies remember the sites you visit and the purchases you make. Websites can then track you and follow you to develop a more detailed profile and later sell it to advertising networks.

The good news is because they are stored on your device, they are quite easy to get rid of but can still take quite a lot of time if you use more than one browser. You can use FortectIntego optimization tool that can take care of this automatically. This software can also fix various system errors and fix corrupted files to have more than one use. If you want to proceed with a manual guide follow this:

If you still experience unwanted symptoms

If blocking the site permissions in your browser settings did not work, that might mean that you have a potentially unwanted program installed in your system that is generating ads in the background without your consent. In this case, you can use anti-malware tools like SpyHunterCombo Cleaner or MalwarebytesMalwarebytes or other trusted ones and scan your system. Security software can also prevent such infections in the future by giving you a warning about suspicious programs.

Try to avoid installing programs from freeware distribution sites as well, as they include additional programs in the installers[3] without telling users about it. Using official web stores and product websites is always the best option, although we know it can get costly. Try not to rush through the installation process and always choose the “Custom” or “Advanced” method.
