EMCO Malware Destroyer review, free download

by Jake Doevan - - | Type: Anti-spyware

This is a freeware malware scanner and remover made by EMCO Software. The application scans the system for different types of viruses, trojans, worms, dialers, adware and spyware parasites. It checks the Windows registry, some files and folders and certain system components. The scan engine is very fast, so the full scan does not take more than 20 seconds. EMCO Malware Destroyes provides required information on detected critical objects and their exact location. It uses an extensive parasite definitions database updated on a regular basis. Currently, it contains about 43,000 known threats signatures. The program has a few simple functions for viewing quarantined objects and exporting scan results.

EMCO Malware Destroyer does not provide any real-time protection. It also fails detecting some complex threats and widely spread parasites. That is why we suggest using this product only along with the powerful commercial spyware remover. If you need advanced anti-spyware, choose another program – EMCO Malware Destroyer is definitely not for you.

The program’s interface is quite simple and clean. However, it could be more convenient and attractive.

In December, 2004, a previous version of EMCO Malware Destroyer was added to the Spyware Warrior’s corrupt anti-spyware list because of false positives. However, EMCO Software has improved the program shortly after this. Our tests performed in April, 2005 and March, 2006 did not reveal any case of false positives.
