Analysis of StreamlinedDIY Toolbar

StreamlinedDIY Toolbar operates as a browser plug-in developed by Mindspark Interactive Network. If you follow the news in the cyber world, you might be familiar with this company. It is known for its digital products, specifically search engines, and their accessories (toolbars, plug-ins, and extensions). Even though the company has earned an acclaimed position in the market [1], there are diverse customers’ opinions about their production [2]. Usually, you may encounter MyWay browsing tools or offered plug-ins, such as SearchFormsOnline Toolbar or Gaming Assassin Toolbar. However, there are significant disadvantages, specifically concerning the management of users’ data. More self-cautious users might want to remove StreamlinedDIY from their computers. Reimage serves for that purpose. In this article, you will find not only how to perform StreamlinedDIY Toolbar removal, but how to prevent the installation of similar components.

Before we advance to the drawbacks, it should be justifiable to review the advantages of the products of their companies. They might easily attract the attention of users who are looking for more livelier browser engines. Mindspark Interactive Network products also offer quick access to popular domains and email accounts. All these features might be practical, but the disadvantages outweigh them. Due to StreamlinedDIY Toolbar redirect tendency, you instantly find yourself in the homepage of MyWay, specifically, hp.myway.com/myway/index.html. What is more, additional window pops up stating that New Tab has been already installed. Such claims act more as marketing tricks rather than a genuine fact. Nonetheless, the statements that some additional tools have been already added without your primary consent might surely lead to frustration.

Browser plug-ins and extensions play a significant role in guaranteeing online security. Their functionality is often disregarded as they might either increase overall security or, on the contrary, diminish it [3]. Continuing the analysis of StreamlinedDIY Toolbar, it attaches its own extensions even though it does not support security plug-ins of anti-virus programs. Likewise, you are deprived of the right to see which web pages are secure to visit. In addition, you should read the privacy policy of this toolbar. Reliable browsing tools do not compile your personal information, even if they do, they do not trade it with third parties. According to the document, the company might collect the mentioned information and share with a variety of third parties, including marketing companies, investors, etc.

We will not expand much on to what outcomes such excessive personal data sharing might lead to. It would be sufficient to note that besides overcrowded Inbox with spam, and popping ads on the computer screen, your personal data might end up in the hands of hackers. Thus, we will leave it to you to contemplate for what purposes your data might be misused for. You might argue that many legal domains collect a specific amount of personal information and track browsing history, however, the desire to retain privacy online is still relevant [4].

How did this toolbar end up on my computer?

If you are not careful browsing online, you might easily encounter hp.myway.com or this toolbar. These products might be promoted as additional products along with recently downloaded freeware. Likewise, StreamlinedDIY Toolbar might have entered your device. One of the key flaws of modern users is that they often skip through the installation guide without paying attention to additional components. Recklessly hitting the “Next” button often leads to installing unwanted applications or toolbars. When installing a program, choose “Advanced” and unmark all unwanted programs. Additionally, you might have installed this plug-in from its official website. If you had previously installed one of the search engines of Mindspark Interactive Network, it is likely that as a result of affiliate marketing, you end up enabling this toolbar as well.

Recently, the developer of this program contacted us asking us to remove this post from 2-spyware.com website. We believe that we shouldn’t do that as long as programs that we offer for the removal of Hp.myway.com can detect it and help users to remove it from the system. As it is mentioned under each of download buttons, we ARE affiliated with these anti-malware programs, and while some of them are free, others can remove a virus only after purchasing them. These mentions fully fulfill each of the requirements of FTC.

Nevertheless, we have recently decided to make a revision of this and other posts that are related to this developer. We claim that all of them are described properly.

You can remove StreamlinedDIY Toolbar automatically with a help of one of these programs: Reimage, Plumbytes Anti-MalwareWebroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus, Malwarebytes Anti Malware. We recommend these applications because they can easily delete potentially unwanted programs and viruses with all their files and registry entries that are related to them.
