Currently, we cannot provide you specific statistical data. However, there's no doubt that the majority of ransomware infection still come through emails. However, this distribution method highly depends on user behavior. If users do not open malicious attachments, malware cannot enter the system. Thus, social engineering here plays an important role, and criminals are definitely aware of that. For this reason, they are creating emails that look identical to bank's, financial organization's, governmental institution's, parcel delivery companies', e-shops, and other popular organizations or businesses.
Thus, we can say that the popularity and success of malspam correlate with user behavior. Thus, while users still are willing to open unknown emails and their attachments, this ransomware distribution method remains the most popular one.
Sincerely,
